Renting a house in Bali - what to expect

Patrik, during our first year in Bali we rented a home that easily met the requirements you list and it fell within your budget. It was in a homestay with lovely gardens and with beautiful rice field views. We had two beds, two baths, two verandas and hot water in the bathrooms and kitchen. It...

Sam Yuill - Seeking advice, New friends, Work, learning Bahasa

There is the library in Ubud. Their Bahasa Indonesia classes are well known. There is also Learning indonesian. Their phone number is 0819 9908 0044 and they are excellent. There are also others. You have posted 20 times and each post is about the same school. I agree with Balibule. It sounds...

What comes up repeatedly is Surya Dharma. We get it. Thank you. We now know how many teachers your school has, how much it costs, when classes start, etc. I think we have enough now.

Has Bali changed the way you cook?

My cooking hasn't changed too much since moving to Bali. Maybe too old to change. Living in a climate that is warm year-round has made a difference. Winter foods just aren't right for our climate. I do find that i've been somewhat influenced by the spiciness of the food around us and cook with...

    WANTED: Private bahasa indonesia teacher.

As Mat says in his post and in his profile, he is in or near Kerobokan, a long way from Ubud. I agree that Cinta Bahasa is good but no need to slam private teachers. They can also be excellent.

    Renting out our house

I agree with Dyah. If you advertise that the house comes with a pembantu that will be appealing to your prospects and, if you have a good relationship with the pembantu, s/he will let you know if the tenants are not taking care of the house.

    Gofast pizza and roast chicken

No.idea, we'd love to see you up this way, pizza or not, but only if you leave the mini skirt and fish net stockings at home. I've seen you in pants and that's fine but I DO NOT want to see you in your mini skirt. The management of the Ducks Nutz is being very generous. I hope those voices in...

    Gofast pizza and roast chicken

 Yeah, I don't think he would deliver to me either even though I'm not as far away as you are. To have pizza delivered with all the effort of a phone call sounds like luxury to me.

    Internet Connection

Once again I'm looking for a good internet service provider. Blueline was great for a while but my package with them says "speeds up to 1Mb." Now I'm getting .2 Mb and Blueline believes that falls within the 1 Mb envelope. Well it does but that doesn't mean I'm happy with it.

    Gofast pizza and roast chicken

Ah Gilbert, I can't remember disagreeing with you before and I sure have learned a lot from you about living in Bali but I do believe that starting a new business, even if it is only the purchase of a franchise takes a lot of money, time and emotional energy except for those who are already...

    Gofast pizza and roast chicken

We've started new businesses in the past and a friend is in the process of doing so now in Bali. I understand why the pizza man is serious. Usually a lot of money, effort, emotion, time, and energy go into starting a business even if it is a second outlet as I believe it is for the pizza man...

    Gofast pizza and roast chicken

I've had their roast chicken and it was good. Didn't pay the extra for the French chicken but the standard chicken was fine. We haven't had a delivery because I imagine we're too far out of Ubud although I haven't asked them. We're almost in Sukawati. Home delivery sounds luxurious to me.

    Bali water gets all clear

And is it not true that town water in Bali comes from many different sources and that testing the water locally doesn't give a picture of the water quality "in Bali"? And, of course, every well is different from every other well. All bets are off when it comes to well water, especially in...

Vegetarian food - best place to eat please?

We loved our lunch at Seniman Coffee on Jalan Sriwedari a couple of days ago. It isn't a vegetarian cafe but they do have some vegetarian options. My Brie and cashew panini was really delicious. And the coffee presentation is entertaining if you sit at the coffee bar.
