I have seen a few posts now on FB about the increase in price of the VOA from US$25 to $35 a person.

Haven't seen any news reports though which seems a bit strange.

30% increase in electric and I wouldn't be surprised if there is an increase in petrol prices after the election...

Very little money that tourists spend nowadays go to Balinese people or Balinese businesses. The ideal tourist for the indonesian government seems to be: arrive at the awful new airport, queue for 3 hours, pay VOA, take a overpriced taxi without meter from airport to hotel (not owned by balinese), do NOT leave hotel until you get picked up by a pariwisata bus that takes you to a ole-ole shop where you can buy as much rubbish as you can put in your luggage (most of these shops are not owned by balinese), do NOT eat at local warungs but eat tourist food at the hotel restaurant, do NOT go out on your own and enjoy balinese culture and lifestyle but wait again for a taxi (of course preferably without meter) that takes you back to the airport where you are allowed to pay another 200.000 Rupies and then please finally leave the country!

Which leaves Bali for the rest of us, doesn't it? I'm good with that.

I've checked various embassies in the U.S. and other countries. VOA according to the official sites is $25USD.
This of course means nothing.

As from midnight last night, VOA is officially now US$35. This photo from a friend at the VOA counter last night.

Air Asia to Singapore cost 2 million the visa then costs around SNG $200 or about another 2 million. With the first 2 renewals costing 1.5 and the final one costing 850k the total cost for one year visa here is IDR 12,700,000. Luckily the Rupiah is taking a nose-dive at the moment but it's still USD $1100 just for a fecking piece of paper.

not add figures but you left out 3rd at 850,000 rupiah each time .

what does a kitas cost being married to an Indo.? besides the weddings, helping family out, presents to family if yoy visit them etc. and remember no forced leaving every 180 days ?

thanks Markit but most people would extend dec 1 for 30 more days@850,000 rupiah and go to SG jan 1st hyperthetically to start process all over again for 6 more months(yup really 180 days)

When you're right you're right. It's time nursey came and took my keyboard away for tonight.

I really think it's time I moved to a country where I don't have to worry about visas, masses of zeros on the funny money and getting AIDS from the dishwasher.

Selamat Bintang

I just received my 60-day tourist visa two weeks ago ($45USD). I wonder if I'll be asked for more money when I arrive six weeks from now.
