Here are some photos of a 150 teak prefab home from Java, now erected in Bali. I like the look of it and thought you might like me to share. It is for sale, including erection on your chosen land [but don't buy it because I want it]. The owner does have others and says the building erection plus ceramic floor takes about 2-3 weeks. Nice Innit?

Will add some more photo's

Wow !... Its wonderful... what would something like this cost ?..
Mat..thanks for putting up the photos

Somewhere around 250- 300 million erected. I have lost the guy's telephone number, but will get it again. This one is at least 1500 square feet, I think 18x 20 metres but he has other sizes. I love it, a real antique made from old growth teak [very hard strong wood] and as well of the advantage of being earthquake proof, it can be packed up and taken with you when you move.
I met the guy and he is very fussy about the build, he has had the roof off 3 times already to get it just right.

Bur will the insects love it as well. Huge discussion on wooden homes in here some time ago.:icon_sad:
The wood has lasted for 150 years with little damage from insects. It is well hard old growth teak. I don't think they will be a problem.
Gilbert; The roof has no lining because it is near rice fields and 'tikus' would be a problem if it was. [apparently] however the tiles have been waterproofed.

Panji, Singaraja.
Ehm...I'm in the middle of ricefields, but have a lined roof and so far no problems with mice/rats..
I also rather have the gekko's s(h)itting bewteen the the tiles and the lining, then having them crap on the "expensive wood" or on my head :icon_lol:
Personally, the way it is in pic1 it looks unfinished, but thats a matter of taste I guess..
but what I meant was the light shining through the seems of the tiles (or are my eyes playing tricks on me?), now it can get very windy when it rains and that wind could push the water up and between those gaps...

As for the teak floor....Love it, gives a very 'warm' feeling to my house, okay it needs more work/maintanance then a tile/ceramic/granite/marble or whatever other stone floor...but like I said, I like it alot.
