I have to ask......
Sanurian wrote on August 6th that the 'atrocious spelling' in Bali bothered him. I've been thinking about it ever since.
Atrocious spelling in which language ?
If you mean English - I have to say I LOVE it. Admittedly I don't live there, and I know that things can wear...
A couple of years ago I went to stay in Switzerland for a few weeks. We took one trip to Spain and another to Italy. The thing that amazed me, given how well-organised the Swiss are, was the total lack of interest by the customs & immigration people.
The immigration people would turn their...
Steve,
I couldn't agree more about the travel warnings. It is arritating me like crazy. I was in London from 1969 to 1973 and the IRA were bombing places, but we never thought much about it and just got on with stuff. I KNEW this government would not alter the travel advisories. I hate to be...
RE: Indonesia's Supreme Court has increased the sentences...
I agree with Ilu that they were pretty darned stupid. I also don't agree with the death penalty. Not for anyone. I'm not sorry for them being in jail indefinitely, because they obviously thought they were too smart to get caught, but...
Well I will be back to Bali, terrorists or no terrorists.
The thing that I am waiting for with GREAT interest is to see what happens with the Australian Government's DFAT travel warnings NOW.
They have been so keen for us to avoid going to Bali - will they say the same about the UK and the...
Hi Chad,
I think the Made you are talking about may be my 'son'.
He 'adopted' me 10 or 15 years ago. Have a look and see if this is the same guy.

Agree totally to not self-drive and get a local driver.
And Stella, how fortunate you are...

Oh..... all those, but particularly 'transport, transport'.
And degung music - Sabilulungan, everywhere, all the time, and for at least twenty years in my memory alone.
The Ubud festival was amazing and I was soooooo LUCKY to catch the most important part of it. Will they have it next year? My Balinese friends told me it was to 'encourage the tourists back to Bali'. I only came upon it by luck. HOW can we get them to publicise it in Australia? HOW can we get...
Hi Adam,
I do feel for you. You sounds like a very thoughtful person. You have been wise to come on the forum and ask advice. I think Roy is particularly well-placed to advise you.
I am HEAPS older than you - even heaps older than Roy, and I am female.
I have a Balinese friend also called...
RE: Australia Health Minister - interesting view on "is
Well I can't BEAR the man. So this article surprises me. It is quite sensible (and of course he doesn't get onto women's issues).
If any of you know Sydney....I've always thought that people who base their views of Bali on the Kuta area, are like people who would base a visit to Australia on the Kings Cross area of Sydney. It might be interesting, but it's where the riff-raff hang out.
I've also experienced the ATM...
Charlie, these are my thoughts EXACTLY. This is why I'm not afraid to go to Bali. I think it's far more dangerous to go to the MLC Centre (for example), because the American Embassy is there. And I did have 2nd thoughts at the Opera House recently.
