I am by no means an expert on this however after going out with many indonesian friends and also my boyfriend staying at various hotels I think the service completely changes.. and not in a bad way it has always become more friendly and relaxed.. I dont know if its because they are with the bules but I have just never seen this happen..

Ive only had 1 bad experienc goinng out with locals and it was when an unwelcome guest joined our table and the bar had no interest in helping us remove him.. so we paid our bill and left..
