Russian Investors Keen to Develop Nusantara as a Smart City

According to reporting from Antara News, Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation for the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Mohammaed Ali Berawi said in Jakarta on Thursday (30/11/23,) that Russian investors expressed their keenness to participate in developing (IKN) Nusantara as a smart city through the transportation and urban planning aspects.

“Nusantara is an inclusive city, so we can guarantee that everyone from all scales of business are welcome to invest in the city,” he said, explaining that the government is developing Nusantara by applying the smart city concept that involves smart governance, modern lifestyle, as well as renewable energy and natural resources, among others.

Meanwhile, OIKN’s Deputy for Financing and Investment, Agung Wicaksono, noted that the authority has been offering opportunities to business players to invest and cooperate in IKN while noting that investors in IKN can be granted the Right of Exploitation (HGU) for up to 95-years, say Antara News.

“We want to demonstrate that we are envisioning IKN not merely as the seat of government but also as a major economic engine,” Wicaksono pointed out.

Antara News say that the OIKN made the statements after receiving a visit from representatives of the Russian government, financial institution, and technology companies. The visit serves as a starting point for the authority to draw Russia to invest in the development of IKN.

Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Russia, Vyacheslav Manuylov, stated that the Russian government and private actors had the potential to take part in developing Nusantara as a smart and sustainable forest city.

A representative of Moscow City Business Ombudsman Tatiana Mineewa, on her part, revealed that plenty of business actors from Moscow had been seeking to expand their businesses to Southeast Asia, adding that IKN is among the most promising projects to them, say Antara News.

The OIKN warmly welcomed the Russian delegation’s visit and expected the Russian visitors to submit letters of intent to translate the visit into concrete cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Russian delegation invited Indonesia to send delegates to Moscow to promote its future capital city and connect deeper with local business communities, say Antara News.
