Just a note to say that 3 people that I know personally [locals] have contracted malaria in the last few days and are hospitalized. They are from Anturan and Tuckadmungga. I have been informed by the families that there are many more cases and at least 3 others have died recently.
So on with mosquito lotion northern friends.

I heard that dengue fever was a problem, but not malaria. Thanks for sharing.

I presumed it was dengue at first, but was assured it was malaria. My information may be wrong. [slight communication difficulties or ignorence].

I think spicyayam could be more right since dengue outbreak was the common scenario in the last few months.

Yes, Dengue it is.
Strange that the families just didn't seem to know. I think it must have been a language problem or maybe the fact that it is a mosquito spread disease that seems much the same to them.
Anyway very nasty and sometimes fatal.

All of the above, but mostly that most Balinese believe that sicknesses are due to guna-guna.

Which brings the "eternal" question that keeps coming back, from time to time: is there malaria in Bali, or is it Dengue?
