A friend of the New Zealand woman allegedly caught carrying drugs into Bali says the trip was a catch-up with friends that turned bad.

Myra Lynne Williams, a Kiwi who lives in Australia, was supposed to be holidaying with a group of friends on the Indonesian Island.

She has been detained in Bali after testing positive for methamphetamine after making a scene in the immigration queue.

"This was meant to be a good gathering with friends and family which turned from good to bad. I hope Myra is OK wherever they have her," said Williams' friend.

The friend said the group of friends was scared and didn't know what to do.

Williams, 27, was allegedly caught carrying methamphetamine when she got off her flight from Melbourne and has since been paraded by authorities before media.

Williams is shown in footage wearing a blue t-shirt and initially a black balaclava, which she later removes before the cameras.

Williams confessed to taking ecstasy, crystal meth, which is known as shabu in Indonesia, and marijuana at a party in Melbourne before flying to Bali, according to the National Narcotics Agency.

A tiny plastic bag, containing a "white crystal substance" fell out of her pocket when she was talking to a customs officer, the agency said in a statement.

How's this for an idea? Get drugged up at a party then board a flight to Bali carrying Class A drugs, knowing that you can get executed if you get caught. Make a scene at immigration to draw attention to yourself and act like a complete twat. Forget you have drugs on you and drop them in front of a customs official in order to completely ruin your life.

Would love to see the holiday video.
