Workvisa

For you to be able to work in Bali you MUST have a work visa and this has to be applyed for by your employer Your employer isn't serious if they can't/won't apply for the visa . It's not something you can apply for by yourself. Don't even think about working on a social- or buisness visa. It's a serious offense according to the Indonesian law and can get you into big trouble if found out.

I'd be worried about your "employers".

A short answer for you - get arrested for working illegally and wing that on your own. Don't forget to smuggle a camera with you into jail. Lots of stories there.

Hope that helps...

Cheapest is getting a 60 day social visa. You will have to leave the country after 4x30 day renewals at 6 months. [Pretty cheap flight to Singapore and back just over 1 million IDR.]

Hi mattieforster, Are you saying you entered Bali on a 60 day tourist visa and was able to extend it 30 days at a time without leaving Bali ? If so, how many months were you able to do this for.

You cannot get a "6 month visa" unless you apply for KITAS.

A sponsored sosial budaya visa is valid for 60 days, then can be extended up to 4 times, making nearly 6 months in total. (It's 180 days, in fact). After 180 days you MUST leave the country to apply for a new sosial budaya and start all over again.

Hmm, you have just published your intent to break the law (as I see it) on a public forum. Your balipod id looks suspiciously like your full name Mattie Forster. You are not worried? I would be.

Be careful what you say on the net, is all I can advise.

Good luck, anyway.

So, he/she is not paying you (in Indonesia at least), so maybe you are not working. But then if you are doing anything at the homestay which seems to be denying a job to an Indonesian, they may well regard you as working.

This is messy, so I would suggest that if your friend won't arrange a visa for you - then you would be better off not working for him/her.

thanks to everyones great advise iam discussing orginising a kitas
thanks for all your help,

as far as getting a 12 month kitas, would i need a letter from my employer ect......

ive heard they are around 20 million? is that correct? can i apply for from indonesia or will i need to apply when im in australia?

That's interesting, I contacted a consulate here in oz and they didn't know how many times I could extend a VOA.

I think you are getting your visas mixed up. A VOA can only be extended once.

That's what I always thought, but the consulate didn't know and mattie has done it a few times apparently.

the most i have done it is 2 times in a row off a VOA but my good mate has done it 4 times wen he stayed 5 months,

you know everything has a price in indo,

supprising howfar and extra 100 k idr can get u

Its true buddy, Its rather silly to post intentions such as these on a Bali forum ! This information is in the public domain mate.

Has anyone tried to get a 60 day tourist visa from Singapore? If so, how long did it take to process. In oz they seem to need three days to process this visa.

Edit : Why am I always getting other peoples posts in my replies?

It's possible to get the 60 day tourist visa or the sponsored sosial budaya (both are 211 visa) on the same day by paying an extra fee to an agent. From memory, it's SGD165.00 for same-day-service. Otherwise, the process takes 3 days and the cost is SGD65.00.
