Can't open older threads. FAQ regarding hiring scooters

Hi all, looking to come up for a month, probably December this year or Feb / March of next.
Looking to do a bit of a circumnavigation around the island, staying at budget Air BnB or Losmans.
Also wondering if ZI should get a scooter or just rely on Grab ?
Anyways...
Can't access any of the previous threads that discuss current regs about hiring moped/scooters.
Also, health insurance

Any pointers will be very much appreciated

As long as you have the appropriate endorsement for motorbike( not 50cc scooter) on your international drivers license and use a travel insurer that covers use of motorbike I would say go for it.
I think finding Grab or a Gojek in some of the back blocks of Bali may be a little tricky.
Maybe post on here and some of the facebook forums for a travel buddy. There are always people doing a similar thing.

Cheers
Ken

I think that was the one, but notice now it is like 10 years old , so no longer relevant.

No probs, just doing some research for my next trip up.

Cheers

If you don't have a motorbike licence and international permit then you will not be covered by any insurance, including health insurance should you have an accident. Not infrequently we see families crowd funding to try and get enough money to cover hospital costs and return to country of origin.

Call me a hardened, cynical old fecker ( gees I am starting to sound like Markit! ) but I have little time for these people that ride scooters in Bali with no appropriate license and therefore appropriate insurance and THEN expect someone to pay for their stupidity.
Stupid people doing stupid things.

I don't care if it wasn't their fault and someone else hit them. If they hadn't been driving the scooter in the first place it would not have happened.

Cheers
Grumpy Ken
