Carseat for child

Would it make any sense to bring a carseat for my 4-year-old to Bali? We're moving next month. I'm hoping to get along without a car there. What have other people done with kids that age?
 
Welcome to Bali Marissae. If you are hoping to "get along without a car" why do you need a carseat - to chain the monster down?

There are effectively no car seats here in Bali - standard Balinese procedure is for an adult to sit in the front seat with no seatbelt and have youngster on lap - kids here act as "airbag" for adults and are cheaper to make.
 
We bought a car seat in Australia, but I doubt our son will be able to fit in it when he is four. What do you use in Australia?
