Wow! I just noticed that you are now located in Kazakhstan. I never envied you when you were in Saudi Arabia, but Kazakhstan... This is part of the region I hope I still have time to visit. Actually, Uzbekistan is more where I would like to go: Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent, etc. I hope you are not working 24/7, and get a chance to travel in this historical region. Working hard doing 14 hour days, 7 days a week for 28 days and then get 28 days off. I am in an of period right now.
This is my third trip to Kazkhstan and I love the area and enjoy working in the old CIS republics. I love Uzbek food but the place is very dreary with bad politics but I agree it conjours up the old silk road and a romantic history. Unfortunately it is not romantic right now.
This is my last job and hopefully will pay for my house in Bali.
