Shots

Hey
Just wondering, what's everyone's opinion on shots? Do I need any, and which ones would you recommend? I'm not relaly that keen on putting all that crap into my body, but it beats getting sick I suppose! But I don't know which shots are really necessary. Any ideas?

I think I live in the wrong part of the world

I suggest Hepatitis A -B and "All travelers should be up-to-date on tetanus-diphtheria, measles-mumps-rubella, polio, and varicella immunizations"

But ask you doctor.

I once got a "cocktail" at the airport, 4 years ago or so. Didn't bother since.

Hep A and B are a problem, cause you have to have a course of three, which means I'd have to get two of them over there. don't know how dodgy this is. Are doctors generally clean and safe over there?

I can speak only about Singaraja.

The doctor we use is the director of a private hospital here, and he is good and speaks very good english. Most expats use him. I have seen some other doctors, and they seem ok (and much cheaper ; ) )

I have seen a hospital in Singaraja, which more looked like a horse stable.

Maddy got sick with a throat infection last year & wee had no trouble with the Doctors..
I'd have them done as a precaution.....

I just went and got Hep A and Tetnus done today....ow! It wasn't so bad getting them done, although I felt a bit woozy casue they took blood to send to the lab as well, but they're still pretty sore now! Glad I won't have to do that again for awhile. I asked the nurse if many people fainted, like just after she stuck the needle in, and she looked a bit alarmed, and asked me if I was going to faint (which I totally wasn't) and then she didn't believe me, and made me lean back against the wall!
