There are three primary governments that regularly issue travel advisories to its citizens, viz, the US, Great Britain, and Australia.
The latest advisory by Australia is just an update to its last issued advisory, and if anyone takes the time to read the latest DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) update, one will immediately read, “the overall level of the advice has not changed.”
Virtually NOTHING has been elevated in the last Australian DFAT travel advisory, and if one follows it as closely as I have for a long time, it reads pretty much the same as usual.
Neither the US, or Great Britain has elevated, or revised its travel advisors relating to Bali, or other parts of Indonesia for several months. As a warden for the US consulate office here in Bali, I receive such updates immediately and as issued by the US State Department, and as disseminated down the chain with an obligation to disseminate it further. I have always posted those updates here as soon as possible after I have received them...and I will continue to do so under this travel section of Bert's forum.
On other forums, one can find a sort of “hysteria” over this latest DFAT revision, and all I can say is...good grief!
