IMMIGRATION SHUT DOWN!

I
Getting a spouse sponsored Kitas on a DIY basis is a piece of cake. I got my first Kitas and then straight away Kitap that way. There were no hiccups and the process was transparent and straight forward. I think you are throwing money away by using an agent.
I was under the impression that I had to use an agent for the kitas. Too late now as I have already paid but I probably would have still used one anyway. I just don't like dealing with officialdom. And seeing all the documentation that my agent provided I don't think I would have been able to navigate the bureaucracy very well not being a native speaker.

You are only required to use an agent if you are applying for a retirement Kitas or Kitap. If you are being sponsored by your spouse, then no agent is needed, and in fact immigration told me they discourage the use of agents in such cases. In any event, immigration counters are typically staffed by polite young people these days, and they tend to be both helpful and professional. There is very little 'bureaucracy' to navigate. You get a list of documents you need to provide, plus the blank forms, and they will answer every question you might have. There are English speakers available if your wife doesn't want to accompany you to translate. Maybe next time...

Thanks for the information. Very helpful.

Our kitas due for renewal mid June. Spoke to Sydney embassy and they advised they could renew there. I then spoke to my sponsor agent and she advised that you have to do it in Bali. I then asked Sydney embassy again and they emailed and advised that rules / procedure changed on 4 April and now have to renewed in Bali... Agent now advised if we cant get back before expiry it will be cancelled.
any ideas how to do it as we cant get back
thx
You need to contact Immigration head office in Jakarta. Explain that you cannot return before your visa expires. You will need to pay for a new exit/entry permit and fine for been late, It cost me all up 150AUD. Jakarta will sent a telex to the embassy for you to collect the documents, Thats when you will pay(I paid in USD) at the embassy, you need to enter Indonesia before the expiry date on the letter.
I have done this before when I could not return in time to renew my Kitas.
Maybe your agent can contact immigration for you.

Spoke with my agent today in her office, and she said that the airport shutdown is extended till May 29. Didn't hear about this anywhere, but she claims it was on local TV news.
Has anyone else heard this.?
Yes i heard today..syarting up again 1st june..
