I second davita's reply above, though it's just as easy to get run over by a car, tram, taxi or bus in any major city in the world. However, if you do have concerns about safety in Indonesia you're smart. So, use those smarts to minimize risk while. For example, wear proper helmets if you ride motorbikes, use seat belts in cars and taxis, plan your seating location on boats (not near the engines) and know where the life jackets are. Try not to fly dodgy airlines during the worst part of the rainy season, etc. etc. And you'll be fine... inshallah.
