There are a lot of them, taking up a LOT of space everywhere...

There must be a new cheap printing process available...

Here in Bali Discovery:

http://www.balidiscovery.com/messages/m ... sp?Id=4917

As reported by Kompas, no less than Bali's governor, Made Mangku Pastika, and the Chairman of the Bali Election Commission (KPU), Lanang Prabawa, have repeatedly called on political parties and their aspiring candidates to "clean up their acts" and not destroy the local environment with their over-exuberant self-promotion.

Oh, Uhhh, posters like these maybe? :)

My favourite series was this one outside of Tabanan:

I suspect the guys who put the posters up were laughing for days

Best printing on the Bypass (Best is the name of the business) are doing cheap digitial priniting. And they have about 20 or more signs up as you approach them. They specialise in this type of outdoor banner.

I have had some work done by them and plan on getting more done before I head back to Lombok.

To be honest I quite like the election posters. Many are uniquely Balinese and say something of the strength of the democratic process on the island now. I've been photographing as many as I can with a view of putting them online at some stage.

And to be honest I vastly prefer them, being as they are indicative of a very positive process on the island, to the awful, overwhelmingly massive billboards selling shonky real estate companies, villas, cigarettes (which kill), hand phones and everything else. Those are the real blots on the landscape and there seems to be no reluctance to cover every kilometre of Bali's highways and intersections with these.

Bpk Pastika, may I suggest you turn your attention to those and the pollution swamping Bali at ground level, before you worry about a bunch of colourful political hoardings.

Although I think that Golkar could do with some wardrobe advice:

Maybe he is a fan of Curious George

I was wondering if the tie was one of those white vinyl ones that Bruce Forsythe was so fond of? (only British Commonwealth citizens will understand that one I imagine).

I love the kitschness of the political advertisements. Especially the yellow suit with tie pin and mo. It reminds me of someone like the character of Bill Heslop on Muriels Wedding. All we need is a slogan underneath that man saying 'You cant beat progress"

But you just gotta love the way the Indonesians organised the whole thing: the posters had to come down 2 days before the election otherwise the guys in the posters still remaining would not be allowed to take office (supposing they had won) or alternatively locked up, if they had lost!

Went for a drive that morning and could not figure out what had changed for the longest time - you know that strange feeling that something just aint right, but you just can't put your finger on it?

Did anybody hear about all the refurbishment the Indo government had done on all mental hospitals all over the country for the coming avalanche of losing candidates that were expected?
