Covid-19 current situation in Bali

Just had a marriage proposal accepted by my Bali girl and then this damn virus intervenes. I agree about the attitude toward Bali here in Perth. The Tourism minister and Mr McGowan are determined to keep the dollars here in WA. All the "get out of Bali, don't go to Bali, Bali is not safe" etc on the news is playing right into their hands. That said I see from the Bali Sun that the infection rate is on the increase in Bali so maybe it would be wise to hang on for a while. My biggest gripe to be honest is the fact that the individual is not allowed to make a decision regarding going over there. The Government have shut the border and you do as your told or else. To me that's not the act of a democratic country. Fair enough, come back and you go into quarantine, that I can accept but not being told I can't travel if I want to.

But you'll still get on your motorbike to go see a sunset or do grocery shopping? if you answer yes to that question, then you're already at a higher risk of ending up in the ICU then you would be from corona. And motorbike accidents are just one piece of the puzzle. When you start to factor in dengue fever, cancer, heart attack, stroke or any number of problems that kill people every day throughout the world, then it is truly pointless to stay locked inside day after day for 1 single disease you have a very minimal chance of dying from. Life is too short. Go live it.

I think you will find its not the wa gov but a federal gov ruling that all borders are closed to o/s travel. the only way to get out is apply for a special concession and I believe you have to have a kitas also atm. this wll prob relax soon but my visa agent told me immigrassi only open up today.

IMO the issue is that since Jan insurance companies put an exclusion on corona coverage...to me not so bad but the issue is that even old pre coroana policies will be nul and void if you leave the country when fed gov has travel ban....so my point is that if you crash ya scooter otw to buy the bintang or a bag snatchers forces a crash your buggered

I hope it happens for you guys, from sitting in Perth watching Sky news everyday all I see is the Indonesian covit toll climbing +40,000. Sad thing being, majority of that is NOT Bali. Dying to get back really am and wondering what will unfold, really seems even the politicians are divided 2 sides on this.

The context of the remarks seemed to suggest a relationship between "...[B]faces are becoming more coloured.[/B] " and being left wing and anti conservative, otherwise why mention "coloured"? The world is a changing place with everyone everywhere being from somewhere else. From other responses it seems I was not the only one to think there being some kind of racist underpinning in your posts. And if that is not the case then my apologies but as you may have noticed, from worldwide protests, these are sensitive times when it comes to issues of race.

I heard from a local beach boy friend of mine who works on Kuta Beach that beaches are opening in 3 days...so as usual in +62...who the fuck knows what's actually going on

I wouldn't even bother to read anything that's posted on the Bali Sun. They often link articles from The Daily Mail, a totally disreputable, click-bait, scandal sheet. Absolute rubbish reporting!

I'm really struggling to find any "reputable" new agency that is not so mired in its own agendas that it can report what is actually happening in our world. My last hope was the BBC but there's a massive movement in the UK to drop their funding method (tax on all tv owners whether they watch BBC or not) because they've lost their way too. Even the ones that have all moved to the subscription method have abandoned their independence at the call of the almighty dollar, slanting their coverage to conform with the beliefs of their supposed subscribers. Hell I've even taken to reading/watching Al Jezeera and (God help me) Russia Today in the vain hopes of finding some tidbit of actual news. Oy Vey!

Markit the reason the BBC is no longer relevant plus the outcry to abolish the annual fee is because it is blatant hard left and it is pushing the agenda to people who pay a fee yearly ( no choice in the matter dont pay you go to court ) and the faces are becoming more coloured if allowed to say that in this day and age and is anti conservative to the core, look at the political programmes it hosts ? : Andrew Marr Show / Question Time / BBC NEWS 6am to 9.30 am uk time daily you will see the bias of hard left extremes, that is why the uk licence fee payers are are up in arms. The uk public voted by a huge maajority for a conservative goverment but the bbc are controlled by the unions which are equalty despised in the uk.

Strange that when there is a thing said about non white as u put it auto kicks in that must be racist ? if you take the time to watch any bbc news/docs/chats/blogs then you will see that it is deliberate that the balance is 70% people of colour presenting/reading/etc etc now take the time to study who votes Labour in the UK in the last 40ish years it is mostly London area and the majority of MPs in these areas are hard left with mostly people of colour members. it is nothing to do with racism ( by the way my wife is Balinese so therefore a person of colour ). my reply to Markit was that he said watching the bbc etc etc yeilds no results i merely pointed out that their main objective is pushing left wing agenda. Wish folks would stop assuming you say the word black or coloured that you must be a racist?.

Sometimes RT has some pretty good alternative points of view, but the one on my cable (IPTV haha cable yeah right) sub, is very specific to USA/USA issues. I tried Al Jezeera for a while, I dunno....not really for me but the content you can access in Bali is fairly different to the content we get in Australia. While we are on TV I'm enjoying HLN for news and old Forensic Files re runs (you can find them on you tube if you like your real crime shows) Masterminds also pretty cold for some old school viewing, same deal youtube it.

I'm so "over" this numbers game. I said at the beginning of March ( can prove it) that the best way to get around this stupid virus if you happen to be in the "danger" group of over 65s, with underlying other medical condition (fat/high bp/cancer/etc) is to go out and buy a couple of months food and lock yourself up and everyone else (all those sweet young things) should just go about business as usual until they've all had a milder version and they we oldies can come out of hiding to a "brave new world" with little chance of contracting anything more exciting than gonorrhea. We'd be where we are now but without a totally fucked economy. This virus aint over and it's gonna come back year after year after year and we can't hide forever...
