ok keep us updated .. i read on other place one guy was asked for it .. .guess we will know soon enough .. I hope I am wrong !

honestly each immi place could ask for different things being so lax in areas . Renon wants my wife bank account as proof of spousal support while Lombok does not want or need it .When I came from NY USA the RI embassy wanted my sponsors bank account copy to show he could support me .They would not accept my bank accounts. Penang ,KL and SG do not ask for any bank account to show proof of ability to support .In SG on sosbud visa with or with out an agent they not care bout an exit ticket ( with in 180 days) while Penang and KL ( both Malaysia) require do RI embassys in Thailand .if there is so much differences in the Higher up places should be same in the lower places ? every one says ( with or with out agent) it 3 visits to airport or renon to extend sosbud 1 to file paperwork , 3-4 days later to pay ( prints and photo if needed) and then a few days later to pick up Passport. In Lombok each extension 1 and 2 was only 2 visits ( 1 to file forms, and 2nd and final visit for payment and prints and photo if needed. Then given stamped extended passport back with see you in about a month .But will see for myself what changes on extension 3 in a few weeks and will post

It is well documented that a VOA can be extended for a further 30 days and can be done as a do it yourself (DIY).Sosbud visa extensions are becoming more difficult because, according to my source in Immigration, they have been widely abused by those who are working illegally in RI.However, generally, I think Smoke says it well...it appears Indonesians don't know their own laws, including lawyers. They make it up depending on how well-dressed you appear. I'm thinking of renting a baby to hold next time I go to an RI govt office, even to use the toilet...:icon_wink:We expats can only hope that, by perseverance, we can endure.......using Namaste, Bintang beer and Hatten wine.....all local.

and Johnnie walker with immi agent and #2 in command also helps :icon_wink:

Paulseawind...we don't care if you wash or not...seen my avatar? The VOA is only lawfully extendable once...and that is a recent change in law...about 2 years ago.The Tourist Visa, wherever issued in an RI Embassy/Consul....is not lawfully extendable beyond 60 days. However, it does seem lax in Bali and many have had it extended. The reason is it looks the same, and has the same number, as a Social Budaya Visa (Sosbud). Bali is also a hub for the tourist $ so maybe?...I've never heard of anyone outside of Bali having a Tourist Visa extended, but I can be corrected...please.A Sosbud can be sponsored by any Indonesian or a foreigner with a Kitas/P. Any agent will also provide this sponsorship...for a fee.A Sosbud does mean you enter initially for 60 days, then it can be extended for 30 days times four...meaning: a sosbud holder can actually stay in RI for up to 6 months approx...but count the days.

I've seen Alice Springs many times....from 35,000 feet ...nobody at home!I read you clear paulseawind...each to his own circumstance.I would however suggest that, if available, make friends with someone who could potentially sponsor you in the future for a Sosbud. Imo it is the best visa to hold. Even after getting the chop in your passport it allows 90 days before you need to arrive...otherwise it expiires.Having said that...can anyone confirm?
Smoke
A sosbud after issueance is valid for 90 days to enter RIMight also look at a few other types of visas where you can leave and return with same visa for one year.there are different stipulations and interpitation on each of them same with a multi sosbud.

Smoke
What are the needs of the visa then one can comment on one type over another type . Check out the RI immigration website , it even tells you certain volunteer work and other work is allowed with a social visa and the process .

So true Davita .And the site even h. This....as a english button to translate. This way you can tell them best visa to get without knowing there time frame here such as cant stay in Indo for more then 2 months. See info like that is important to actually help with suggesting a visa type

Just started 3rd sosbud extension one additional form for the sponsor to fill out .not sure on what it was.We both signed it and agent checked off some boxes .Applied on Tuesday with a return date of Friday( will return Monday do to ceremony schedule , agent noted that on my reciept).on a side note . My fiance and I live in lovely Sanur but her KTP is Lombok. We process in Lombok( and visit family) but for 1st and second extensions I put my sanur address. This time we were asked to change it to her KTP address which we did .( agent knows we travel for the process from Bali and that we live in Bali ).Maybe something new? I go with the flow in and out in 35 minutes with getting forms and filling them out and agent processing them for return date /payment
Nothing new...to my knowledge it's been like that for a number of years. When we lived in Jakarta...(note to markit...'in our luxury apartment') our sponsor's KTP was Tangerang. We had to travel to Tangerang Immigrasi numerous times to get extensions but we actually lived a short distance from Jakarta Pusat Immigration. When we moved to Bali our sponsor's KTP was still Tangerang...that's one reason I changed from Sosbud to Retirement Kitas.

Davita my 1st and 2nd sosbud entensions with fiance as my sponsor listed my sanur address as my residence. On extension 3 I was told to change it to my sponsors ktp address even though agent knows we live in BALI not LOMBOK.Agent also used white out so we could just change addresses on the already signed and stamped formAnyone know the reasoning why we needed to use sponsors ktp address for my 3rd extension

A sponsor's duty is to be responsible for the behaviour and finances of the foreigner being sponsored. If anything happens the officials will have access to the sponsor's address. Please don't ask me to justify this...I'm only the messenger!!! I suggest on your 1st and 2nd extensions you just got lucky and no-one checked....now they are applying the rule.
Smoke
I understand that part that technically the sponsor is responsable for you .Must of gotten lucky 2 times . each letter including the original to SG has had her KTP and her Living in Sanur address. Just seemed strange and even to use white out on all 3 forms
davita
I've re-read smoke's post #60 and confess I misunderstood. My criteria was that the extensions have to be applied to the Immigrasi of the KTP of the sponsor.Smoke was asking why his address had to be changed and I don't know. He then said "each letter including the original to SG has had her KTP and her Living in Sanur address" That's where I misunderstood. If someone has a KTP in Lombok, but actually lives in Bali, then that person is required to change their KTP to reflect that new address.....whether they wish to be a sponsor or not.

"She who must be Obeyed" just renewed her Social at a cost of 2.4 million for the 4 renewals plus IDR55,000 for various pictures and signatures. Just as an aside this does not compare all that well now with a retirement Kitas+Merp (costing 9 milli for a year) if you calculate 2 trips a year to SNG and a 2 day shopping :icon_eek: spree.
Smoke
and a spousal Kitas from a spouse or fiance sosbud is 1,855,000. rupiah and not have to leave .with the sosbud and the 2 trips to SG or KL airfare is about 4 million alone.
Normy
So are you saying 2.4 for each of the 4 renewals? also is the 55000 a one-off or must be paid for each renewal?
