Indonesian, Singaporean Firms Sign MoU on Green Electricity

According to reporting from Vietnam Plus, PT Marubeni Global Indonesia has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore’s Tuas Power to export green electricity to the city state.

The USD 9-billion deal was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing Singapore International Energy Week, which runs until October 27.

Tuas Power, a subsidiary of China’s Huaneng Power International, will purchase electricity from a solar farm on Batam Island, Riau Islands province, of Marubeni Global Indonesia, a subsidiary of Wiraraja Group, say Vietnam Plus.

The project has a maximum capacity of 4.1 GWp, plus an additional 10 GWp stored in battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Vietnam Plus report that Managing Director of PT Marubeni Global Indonesia, Tjaw Hioeng said this is an important step forward in the development of renewable energy, as it emphasises the parties’ commitment to enhancing long-term energy security, reducing emissions and promoting a healthier environment for both Indonesia and Singapore through environmentally friendly power sources.
