hi , i'm alain , and in bali soon

My question would be :
coming to Bali 12/31 , my laptop too , I also have an external hard drive
with about 100 giga of music . Many of that stuff is legal , i mean CD's that
I have bought and downloaded in the HD . Many other music is not that
legal and also downloaded in the HD .
Could i have troubles while crossing the customs at Denpasar airport ?

thanks for any suggestions .

RE: custums

I seriously doubt it unless the customs officials want to make a point out of you and confiscate your hard drive for you to pick up at a latter date so they can see what you have on it. i seriously doubt it, though you never know when travelling to a country like Indonesia what may pop up and what officials may do. its not like entering the US or UK where you have certain rights and are more than likely not going to be bribing any officials or police when you get pulled over for driving or something of that nature. You should be fine though, As they say in Australia. "No worries mate."

Hi Alain. That is a truck load of music you have, and makes my 17Gb look a bit thin. That's enough music to last you 2 lifetimes. But I can't see the what the difference is in bringing a computer containing a HDD into the country or a stand-alone hard disk drive. It would be utterly preposterous that the Indo authorities would be suspicious about a single HDD. I have bought my laptop into Bali many times and never even got a half raised eyebrow.

Why would they then not scrutinise all laptops that arrive in Indonesian territory? Bali is full of pirated music and dvd's. Unless you are on a government hitlist as being a person with questionable motives, then I wouldn't worry about it. They are after drug and contraband traffickers and the odd excess alcohol carrier.

If you are a single male travelling they may want to have a look for any pornography. I have heard of this happening before and have also seen a site where men have asked for advice on how to bury their files containing pornographic material for fear of their laptops being checked.
