geedee wroteI think these are the type of reasons people are turning to Uber.
The Uber driver last night told my wife that they don't feel safe going to the airport because of the other taxis
who are very aggressive with them and apparently there is a huge demo by the regular taxis coming up soon
when they get answer from government over some big complaint.
He said you just have to be discreet
Recently I tried to order a taxi to pick me up in Cemagi and I was told that taxis and transport companies weren't allowed to come in the area to do pick-ups (only drop off), and the only option was using the local Cemagi transport company that would charge me 3x the regular taxi fare (taking a taxi to Cemagi cost me 100k, they were quoting me 300k to leave!). I've been told that many villages and areas are trying to implement similar rules (so companies like uber, go-jek, and outside taxi companies like bluebird don't take all the business). The problem with this is the rates are crazy inflated and a lot of these transport companies aren't even licensed.
With tourism being so quiet lately, there's less business, and people start getting all crazy (and aggressive). I'm not surprised that drivers for uber and go-jek feel intimidated.
