Now on the other hand I'm quite amenable to a well aged Gouda and give "free" advise and tips that will save you and your heirs millions and millions over the course of several minutes. Did I hear something about cheese and salami???
Will, trust me. Markit is typical example of the people your mother warned you about. Stay alert my friend. Goodness me, the hermit only comes out of his cave at the mention of cheese. He is actually somewhat of a tourist attraction as he lurches out of the forest with saliva running from the down turned corner of his mouth.. I tell people to stay back in case he bites. (I hope you have read up on the possibilities of catching rabies while in Bali.)I let him into my house once and it took two days to get him down from eating the fresh leaves in my trees.

Thought of changing my picture to a more realistic and up-to-date version. What do you think?

Nothing to do with heritage but everything to do with civilization. I just get the feeling Ozzis will step on Granny's head while she's sinking in quick-sand if she's between them and the beer.
British or American civilisations? My guess American.. By the 'Z' in civilised???Cheers, Will

Yeah, tell me about it, Ferdie, but from my experience, people are much nicer when you meet them face to face....6 days out now and getting comfortable with the change, and looking forward to the trip...Any tips, guys, on something you wished you packed in this side that is difficult to get, or very expensive on that side??I am coming over Jack Reacher style, just hand luggage, so not things like appliances or furniture, just day to day stuff? On that note, does anyone need anything small and legal that they would like me to get for them, like treats or cheese that you cannot get there?Cheers,Will

I carry a spare shirt, pretty soon I'm carrying spare pants. Then I'd need a suitcase. Next thing I know, I've got a house and a car and a savings plan and I'm filling out all kinds of forms." Lee Child, Bad Luck and TroubleGo to Ubud mate, where you can take yr time getting happy. All the youngsters down south drink like they think its closing time next round. Duana's Homestay on Sri Wedari (street name) is just off the main drag and $20 a night for clean rooms with free wifi, brekky, and a shared kitchen. :topsy_turvy:

Things you will need before you backfill your luggage with cheeses: Your own Mifi for connecting your lappy, handy(mobile), pad, etc to the internet.Rechargeable batteries and charger (they are here but crap and expensive)Kindle or equivalent - you will have time to read between chasing brown girls and drinking beer. Anything for the female genitalia - maxi pads, tampax, hedge cuttersLots and lots of scotch!!!Basically anything electronic. Forget: all your clothes and leather goods (shoes, belts, gimp masks) from colder climes - they will rot here, very quickly. Anything that needs serious wattage to run or steady voltages - it probably won't and there isn't. Basically all you will need is 2 pairs of shorts, 3 t-shirts, underwear if you use them, flip flops (not sandals they are way to fecking hot) and a full wallet. Extras - swim trunks a towel and a bottle opener, but just luxuries really.

Thanks Markit,Had a look at your hometown on the net, looks great...Is wi-fi not available in most places over there?Am planning on traveling light like that, good to know I am on the right track anyways..Travelling solo, so won't need any female products.. Or scotch..Just finalised my work commitments, so all systems go now.. 5 1/2 days left...Cheers, Will

Hi Duneden,Not too worried about the visa yet mate, gonna wing it on VOA till early next year, filter out all the bullshit around the visa thing when I am over there, see what others have done successfully and go that way... Maybe I don't even like it there, then on to somewhere else..Not looking to marry another cook again though, and will just wing that too.. Female cook, definitely... Lol..., but each to his own mate...With $90 flights in and out of Perth, it may be a better to come over occasionally to realise why you moved in the first place.. $11 beers.. Really??Cheers,Will

If you use sun-block, buy a 1 litre container before you come. It's outrageously expensive here.
