Wonder how the good Moslems found out that last association?

On the last, don't care to know. Seems to me a concoction for "just get it over with B'pa" so ibu can get on with other interests such as gossiping about neighbors or selfies on farcebook.

Many, many thanks to all the contributors to this thread titled 'Dengue Fever'....I OP'd because I was scared of the aftermath if positive. Notwithstanding my negative result there has been many informative, interesting and some amusing posts.
My thinking now is to not respond to this thread unless directly associated with Dengue Fever, as the dialogue is taking other directions, and may not be archived correctly for any future reference.
What do you all think...should we open other threads titled Jamu; Diabetes; Herbal medicine ....those subjects are not directly related to Bali but look at the response I got about Kardashian....let's keep the forum lively and hopefully informative and my personal thinkin'....funny.
I leave this open to members and administrators...most forums have moderators who have this kind of authority but it seems I've only ever seen deletion. No moderation of members posts, nor consequence for disobeying forum rules, has been promulgated...that I've observed.

Davita I had similar symptoms over the last 20 years, maybe more than that. In 1992 I was on a contract doing helicopter maintenance in a place called Kopi in PNG. That one turned out to be Vivax malaria. The American paramedics specialised in Malaria and reckoned I had it since the 70's without treatment. After that in 94 I was on a gold search contract at Siradala in Papua and had shivers, along with night sweats till the hair was soaked. No other symptoms. I called the SOS doctors in Singapore on the satellite phone. Got a reply a half hour later. They said pee in a jam jar or similar and let us know what you see. I saw a large ball of what appeared to be egg white. It turned out to be prostatitis. They told me what medicines to take which fortunately I had in my travel medicine kit. I was worried it was something worse, problem gone.

To add to the above excellent post this is a link to those who are looking for more scientific info....
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Symptoms & Treatment
It doesn't mention the use of gin and tonic and another report I read said it would take 20 litres of tonic water to have the same strength as the quinine included in a prescription pill....and that wasn't for Dengue..... but Malaria.
Be mindful that the gin will probably help....you'll have such a hangover you'll forget about the pain from the pesky mosquito.

It should also be pointed out that the mossies don't have Dengue themselves but get it from infected people and then pass it along. So you could be in the proverbial mosquito infested swamp but if there weren't any other infected humans around your danger is nil.

Karma is a bitch - I've now been diagnosed with having had dengue for over a week. Didn't know what it was, just felt like absolute chite with a fever of 39.4 for 2 days and all the attendant aches and pains.
That then started to fade and I thought "hmmm, that weren't so bad".
It do take a while and I wouldn't have known about it now unless these weird red spots like freckles hadn't started popping up on both ankles. My cheerful and optimistic missus pointed out her dear old dad had the same thing just before he died.
All in all it aint as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Just check out the NHS advise:
Dengue - NHS Choices
Very British, low key "man up you pussies" I thought.

Sorry to hear. Our kids have had various fevers over the past couple of years and dengue has always been suspected, but so far always a negative result.
I may have had it, a few years ago but never got a test. I did get hand foot and mouth disease earlier this year from one of our kids. Probably not as bad as dengue though.

Condolences to Markit and, seriously, I hope he does just have a mild dose of Dengue.
I started this thread because I had some of those Dengue symptoms but, as I had more tests, ending up with a colonoscopy, it was then determined I had colon cancer and a large tumor.
I had the surgery last February in Prima Medika Hospital and the diagnosis was that the cancer had metastasized into the surrounding area but hadn't reached any organs like liver, kidneys.
This meant I had 6 months of oral chemo-therapy. Oral is nowhere near as toxic as an IV but it still makes you feel like ****.
I finished that therapy in July and had numerous other tests including CT scans and colonoscopy to determine I'm cancer free...at least for now.
Subsequent to this OP.... the scar from my rib cage to pubis had a bulge above the belly-button area. This is Incisional Ventril Hernia which, apparently, often happens to the elderly...and those who attempt too much activity right after surgery...(I'm of the former).
So last Monday I went back for prepping for surgery to insert a strengthening web and on Wed I was discharged and went home with a huge stretched bandage (girdle) around my waist to cover the incision which was done over the other incision from Feb.
Tonight just returned from the clinic with new dressings and everything looks OK and the staples will be out next Wed...so far all my medical bills, from last Feb to date, are around US$30,000 .
Conclusion...not meaning to divert from Markit's illness (hope he's OK) but sometimes it is best to count your blessings as it could be worse.

Good news, reported in today's Jakpost, is a Dengue vaccine is available in Indonesia...summary below....my comments in red....
The first dengue vaccine has arrived in Indonesia, bringing hopes of curbing one of the most challenging diseases in the country.
The vaccine, named Dengxavia, is a result of 20 years of research and experiments by Sanofi Pasteur, the world’s largest vaccine producer.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has endorsed the vaccine, saying that it represents a major step in controlling the disease as there is no established cure for dengue fever
The (Minister Elizabeth Soepardi) said the government needed to test the vaccine, even though Sanofi Pasteur had done clinical trials, so the government could approve an increase in the health budget for the roll out of the vaccine....WTF... I imagine those regulators discussing how to inflate the price so they can grab those extra Rupiahs that Sri Mulyani has convinced the public pay to the taxman.
The market price of the vaccine is reported at more than Rp 900,000 ($70) per injection, not including tax, and the vaccine has to be given in three injections spaced out over one year.
