If everyone on retirement visas pooled their money together to start a visa company, I am pretty sure that you won't be able to save money that you would otherwise be paying to your agent now. The government made it easier for mixed couples to get visas, which I am sure made some people in immigration unhappy. There were some Indonesian spouse groups that pressured the government to make the changes. So maybe all of you retirees need to get together and push for changes to the system. I can't imagine it coming anytime soon though. I think the next likely change will be some kind of visa for Indonesians who changed their citizenship as davita mentioned here: http://balipod.com/bali-visa-questions-answers-f42/indonesian-diaspora-meeting-t9437.html
The 2 years old "new" law, which entitles me to have a KITAP because of my Indonesian spouse, has also a chapter about returning former Indonesian citizens, entitling them to a KITAP in the same way I got it. Same is valid for children of mixed married couples!

((The whole exit-permit system seems to be unique in the world anyway, never heard about any other country that had it.))Only a money maker.....bunch of thieves
May be you haven't listened enough so far?..... Please go and study Singapore regulations. If you are a PR (permanent resident there) you also need a re-entry visa to travel in and out of the country. There are though fine differences in how it is handled and processed, of course.

The pertinent items are from post #23 and on by Atlantis & myself. No further info has been forthcoming.I would be very interested to see if ANYONE has managed to achieve a direct KITAP for an ex WNI.

Here is another brainbreaker:around the world there are still hundreds or maybe thousands of people who were born here before Independence. They have chosen for different reasons for another citizenship. My guess is that many of them would like to come and live here,if they were granted the same rights as the other Diaspora.Where would the Indonesian Government draw the line?
I agree with that.It would be an important voice if there was an organisation of expats that could be a spokespartner with the government.I already suggested that on this forum about two years ago,but there was no reaction that i can remember,so i do not have real faith in it ever emerging. My point at that time was that an organisation such as that could also force employers who work a lot with expats to provide their clients with copies of the KTP of all the people they send to work at their house. This after the unfortunate rampokan of some of our members by people who worked at their house previously.
