I was wondering (sorry if someone have asked before, but I couldnt find anything fresh/current) !I want to open small warnet (similar to internet caffe but for gaming)!I was wondering do I really need a CV ? Ill be married in a month or so with javanese . so I was wondering do I need to establish a CV and how much does it cost ?I was advised that you do not need anything if you going to have small thing ... ? Apparently all locals who have smal warungs or smal shops do not have CV (is that accurate ?)And how smart is to open anything in Bali ? Is it throwing money ?I am not looking to get rich etc .. I am looking to get know how (at least) about papers, licenses, rentals, electric bills etc etc ...Because theory is one thing and practice totaly another (especialy in Indonesia)So for start CV or not !?If yes ...How much does it cost ?Any hidden fees (having CV) .. ?And is it paying 3000 IDR / KWH per electiric bill on rented place (maybee 20 squares meter) normal thing ? Since I am paying 1500 IDR/KWH now (KOST) . .and locals are paying 1000 IDR/KWH on some areas ? (on what it dephend)Is it too much to pay 25 IDR mil/year ???I am targeting local population ... round Denpasar area !

I think you would struggle to cover your costs when you factor in rent, electric, salaries not to mention the start up cost to buy computers, furniture. I think you could work out your costs easily enough and projected income in best and worst case scenarios. I don't know what the going rate of an internet cafe is, but maybe 5000 rupiah an hour? So x 10 computers and you are making 50,000 an hour - provided all the computers were being used. And of course you wouldn't be able to have any involvement in the company. There is even a warnet forum you could try: Komunitas Warnet Indonesia - Index

Odez, I am with Spicy. It will not be worth your while. And to reiterate what Spicy said. You can not be even been seen in that Warnet. The risk of deportation or more likely extortion by police or immigrati is high.

You want to make a small fortune in Bali?Easy!Start with a large fortune!

Wife or her brother would work in it or somebody .. I am more of "know how asistent" I think if you are married and your wife owns the place... dont you at least have the "right" to sit there (free of charge :D )!?anyhow .,.. there is no big money involved .. in fact "positive" zero would be satisfying ... so I doubt that anyone would have any interest to "destroy/deport" you in any way !!!I could say that all I do is on voulontarry basis ! I have no big intrest to make big money etc .. In fact I am aware that I could lost all my initial investment ... (never return it) .. but at least I could find out how things works (first hand) in this part of the world ... and try to keep up with positive 0 ... meaning .. manage to pay electric, tax, employers etc ... and have 1-2 juta for owner .. nothing more for start ...How much does it cost to open CV ? Do I have to if wife will own 1 small warnet alike "biz" !!???BTW does someone knows how much you need to pay police if you are selling DVD copies ? Is it on % or ???

I don't know the legalities but what would happen if some kind of illegal activity was traced back to your shop? Why not do some kind of online based business. Start up costs are cheap and if one idea doesn't work, you can try something else.
odez999
what do you mean illegal activity ? Like ... ?

Are those warnet places still busy? Chinese tablets are coming so cheap so I'd guess most kids play on their own gadgets rather than going to a warnet?

"Free" wifi at restaurants and accommodation, as well as cheap SIM cards in tablets and phones mean that tourists are not now out looking for a warnet. Locals still do use warnets, particularly for gaming, but I wonder whether they have much of a future.

The smaller business operate as a UD, a single Indonesian can use this type of business. For a CV you need two Indonesian citizen. The only company you can be involved in is a PMA. Too expensive to setup & run for most business.

...I could say that all I do is on voulontarry basis !
Yes, you could say that, but as far as I know, even being a "volunteer" without the proper visa can get you into trouble (if somebody wants to make trouble for you). Not to be rude, but I just picked myself up off the floor from laughing too hard.A "new" gaming warnet in Denpasar aimed at locals? That's like trying to re-invent the wheel. I think you're at least 10 years too late.BTW does someone knows how much you need to pay police if you are selling DVD copies ? Is it on % or ???
Whatever they threaten you with for violating "the law".I'm sorry, but I doubt that there is any money to be made these days for new-comers trying to sell DVD copies. These days, I tell my former favourite DVD hawkers on the beach/bars in Sanur that it's all over for me as a customer. I can and do download my own movies off the internet, so what's the point?Sometimes I'll look through their bags of DVDs - "Hmmm - got that - got that, too..." And sometimes, I'll buy them a beer, a meal, buy 10-15 DVDs and give them straight back (after some hard bargaining). They might be good to hang in rice paddies to frighten off the birds (if they've still got any rice paddies, or birds left).Same thing with the guys who try and sell me newspapers at traffic lights. "Sorry, mate - already read the free online version". I haven't figured out how to deal gently with the guys wearing and trying to sell me gorilla masks at traffic lights. apart from telling them to fuck off.

If I were living in Singapore for example .. I would ! Nevertheless i would have all necessary crap at home ! and BTW they do ! They have some kind of "culture" going to this kind of places ... especially if they are decent ...Some simillar what happened with karaoke ... You can buy 2 microphone and plug it to laptop and sing in comfort of your home .. But still good equipped like NAV are full on weekends ! People spend their money there even they could go cheaper at home !You must book in advance sometimes !!!

Or pay some service like HULU or NETFLIX 100$ per year and have all movies they like !It reminds me when people was saying after they invented televison .. that that was end of radio era .. when they invented internet it was end of TV era etc etc ...Decent ammount of people still go to beach with real book instead of ipad and .pdf downloaded book ... To understand gamers you must be gamer itself ! If you aint .. hardly you can understand what I am talking about ... when it comes to gaming hardware/software .. needs ... and gaming future ...

Best of luck with your shop ! you know what ur doing good luck

I can check at the shopping centre, they 30 or 40 computers for gaming, Saturday night you have to line up to play. I will find out the price.DVD's I pay a lot less in Surabaya then Bali, rather buy them then stuff around & down load.
BKT
From what I remember I paid around IDR 2500 each for DVDs in Surabaya, I did buy over 30+ though. Places like Sakura in Denpasar make a killing.

From a "business sense", most of them have passed their use-by-date. It's only a matter of time.If you want to back a losing horse in a horse race, that's up to you and good luck (you're gonna need it big time). Not unlike why would anybody buy a new Blackberry these days when the writing's on the wall?As for a powerful gaming experience in Bali, how about this? Why don't you build Bali's first super-computer? If you don't have enough money to fork out for a Cray, or another real "super-computer", you could buy 50-100 Pi, (cheap), string 'em together, and Bob's your uncle.Warning there: Learning curve involved but doable, unless one is a total nutter.Good luck to you whatever you decide. IMHO, you're not even near the eight ball yet, let alone behind it.Time will tell, who has fell, and whose been left behind. One last thing. Have you ever heard of a spell-checker?:icon_cool:
