Hi new to the forum I am wanting to start a small food business targeting tourists,I would love to hear from anyone with advice on where I need to go to look into this further what type of business permits I need, I understand and will employ locals however I do not have any local contacts in the kuta region, however I do have some ties in lovina.Any feed back would be greatly appreciated, I hope to be travelling in the next 2 months time to invvestigate my idea. Please feel free to leave any advice or if any expats running a business in the kuta area I would greatly appreciate any advice .CheersTerry

How about McBarf - ask them. I think there's only about 10 of them in Kuta. Why, in the name of Willy Wonka, do you think Kuta needs another food business targeting tourists? I personally think a gun business, targeting tourists, would be a real winner. Having read your post now for the second and then 3rd time (without drooling and spitting all over my monitor) I gotta say your business plan is fecking brilliant! No idea about the market you are going intoNo contacts in KutaNo idea about licenses Heard of visas? But, hell, what do I know? Send me tickets to the opening night.

Can I have tickets to opening nite also !

Make the plan first before you are asking for suggestions:icon_lol:With the right amount of capital, you'll be able to open any food business in Kuta without any complications on the permit, except if you wanted to sell liquor, which demands extra permit and cost.I'll always welcome good food in Kuta even if I rarely go down there anymore

I'd stay out of kuta too....most tourists that go there hardly for into the "wealthy tourist" category, and that's what you want!

Why not? There's no shortage of potential customers? You just need something that's unique otherwise you're just a dime a dozen.

I know familly (a husband and wife) who make like 50-100eur A DAY selling Pisang Keju ! (really good ones .. crunchy... i tried lik from 5-6 others who are selling the same .. nope . .not same taste ...)And they always have people waiting and buying ... always buisy ...Working in front of some mart in aluminium construction "mini shack" .. i do not know the proper english word ...(payin 200 000idr mothly fee to owner of the shop for renting the place)One night I stood there and counting customers .. they worked from like sunset untill 11:00 PM ! I waited 1 hour and they sold more than an 50 pieces ... they sell for like half euro per pack (pack have lik 8 pieces in plastic) so .. thats like 25euro turnover per hour ...And they work like 4 hours per day ... Thats like 100 turnover per night .. let say they have only 50% of it .. its like 50 euro per day ! ....and let say they only have 10 good days (like this) per month thats 500euro / month !!!!I must say .. not bad .. not bad at all ! Even if its 1/3 of that .... for local and ammount of work is good income !they have option to double or triple the money .. but they are interested into it ! Sometimes they run of oil and close at 10:30 ... and thats it ... and leave 5 people out of their meal...and they can buy cooking palm oil in shop near .. but they simply not interested .. they did their "quota" for the night :D (maybe its better that way than just run for profit .. i dont know)all I want to say .. If you want and have will .. you CAN !

I always thought a fish n' chip shop would do well in Kuta.
Sanur has a fish and chips restaurant https://www.facebook.com/ManFrydaysFishAndChipsShopI think a restaurant in Legian serving take away fast food in the early morning hours will work well. I'm always in for a midnight burger after a long night out. There used to be a burger restaurant in Poppies that made very good hamburgers until late night (not the McDonald crap). Fish and Chips will work as well. Doner Kebab, hot dogs, french fries ...

The little fish look like sprats (dried and very salty), if so forget the bread etc., wash down with huge quantities of beer.Been in poppies 1 14 days. No specialist burger joint. Tried some at various cafes, only fair.
