I am annoyed they are getting away with this "fine" or otherwise. It sends a message "Come to Bali, if you have money you can get away with anything". Awhile back in this thread there was mention that the 'possible' sentence was too long. Are you kidding me. Minimum in the States is almost double that for first degree assault. And these two should have done ever second of it. [USER=10420]@Rangi[/USER], What is the percentages attached to Australians here. I would guess that most Australians, that are in Bali at any given moment, are from the 'younger generation' and are here on holiday. That would imply that this applies to the majority here.

Sounds like there a few on this forum who would prefer that the visitors from Australia took their money to another part of the world and spent it there. I've been to bali for hols 8 times in total and each of the last 5 years. I can honestly say that I have rarely seen an Aussie behaving badly. I am sure there are many who do but there are also many who behave when visiting and respect the bali people and culture. Some of you need to get a grip and remember that all terrorist being Muslims doesn't make all Muslims terrorists.

Any of you that think Ozzies behave badly should stay way-the-feck away from the English on their hols, oh hell, on a Friday/Saturday night out, for that matter. The young Brits seem to think extreme drinking is an Olympic sport and they are going for the gold with all the aberrant behavior from both sexes that you can and can't imagine. Make one proud to wave the Union Jack. Course they pale in comparison to the scots.

They should ban bogans from Bali, I have seen the tv show on young Brits on holidays at the Red Sea. The doctors that treat them always ask why you don't look at our beautiful country instead of drinking all day & night.

My God! We weren't like that when we were young!!! Disgraceful!! Drinking all day and night and shagging the rest of the time - disgraceful!! We were too busy scoring hash and marijuana to go with our speed and downers and only shagging when we could manage to get the zip down on our own. Alcohol didn't mix with the acid trips and cocaine was just for a quiet night out. Those were the days! Now it's Bintang to wash down the Viagra...

Rarely seen Australians behaving badly? I had one Australian try to fight me because I was smoking outside at a restaurant and he didn’t like it. I had another call out to get the attention of my wife and her cousins so that he could flash his genetals at them. I will not say every Australian is like this however. It just seems that the most extreme cases of bad behavior are performed by Australians. I was thinking about why the perception that all Australians are like this exists at all. I started thinking about similar perceptions in other places. Americans in Mexico and what have you. The decision I came to was cost of travel. The low cost of the flight from Australia to Bali, similar to the cost of Americans going to Mexico, means that younger and lower income people will visit Bali. The greater number of these, what I like to call spring breakers, is what creates this stereotype. They are generally the loudest visitors here so invariably the ones that get noticed. When I was in the military they warned us that when you travel abroad you are an embassador of your home country. That our behavior will affect who they view all Americans.

maybe I'm holidaying it the wrong places. I only head to Kuta if absolutely necessary (wife going to the shopping center) and never after midday. Good points about the type of person giving all of a particular nationality a bad name.
