Double roofed tropical house

Anyone have any experience of these double roofed tropical wooden houses? Pro or contra whatever, I've seen them but not lived in one. I can imagine there might be wonderful breezes but horrible bugs? What about rain?[ATTACH]2304.vB[/ATTACH]

I have been in a few open Houses like that. from what I see it brings in a little light , inside area between the 2 roofs is open but could be framed and screened off . Only high side wind may come in but extending the first or second even both could alliavate that.

The object is not really to let in wind, but to allow the rising warm air inside the house to escape It is quite an efficient means of ventilation and used by a lot of 'tropical architects'

Hey Shog since I'm designing it myself you don't happen to have any examples on hand do you? I'm looking for inside pictures/design tips, etc. I'll probably be using bamboo as the build material of choice.

No not yet happen .Had alot going on .Should be between Xmas and New Years . As you know with a spousal Kitas ( which I am told I can pick up on Tuesday ( 2 weeks processing time)My wife support me so she spends our money .:icon_e_biggrin: but I am allowed to assist in the family biz ( stay tuned for some promotions of her business's in the near future !

Markit, this is sometimes referred to as a wantilan style roof and is classic balinese architecture. Google 'wantilan' images and you will see many examples.

I hope you can explain your project further but, in my experience, restricting posters to specific groups lack contributors, ends up boring and gains few members. Look at British Expats-Indonesia. The only contributor in the last 9 months has been lil ole me....and I'm Canadian!
