Re post #samsiam #16...
Unsubstantiated and outrageously sensationalist...and even if true ..so what? Do people make a song and dance about eating cows, ducks, chickens, horse..well apart from the militant vegetarians but they are all twats anyway... no, people get the hump about snacking on Fido because he used to fetch sticks, roll over, beg and answer to his name so that makes him less of a menu item than for instance a cow... fair enough, to my knowledge no cows have ever been featured on YouTube dancing on their hind legs, barking in cell phones or chasing their tails...
This is a foreign country, you are a guest ..or going to be one... don't tell them how to live, love, laugh ..or eat
Sweet and Sour Labrador recipes anyone?

wow....crazy prices being quoted.
Looks like she will be staying in Thailand.

have you ever been stalked while walking down a quiet kampung street by a pack of 10 possibly rabies infected mongrels? it's scary, kill the lot..Last year I was nipped on the butt on Kuta beach, luckily it didn't break through my pants..arrgh!

I'm all for eating of these stray dogs - seems like a great way to end the problem as long as I don't have to take part.
Any way we can get 12 year old motorbike kids and truck drivers on that menu too?

Some may want to bring a blind bitch, others bring a bastard in a wheelchair...

Got it thanks and sent of inquiry.
Owe a beer or ten if successful.
In the meantime, if I have to suck it up and be a good Dad and pay whatever it costs with the other exorbitant quotes I have had, we cut a deal today that the kids have to write 5 books each....kids books....so we can put them on a future website we may open to make money to pay for the dog.....funny, they are both sitting down tonight starting their stories.

I'd put up a photo that would even make Malkits heart bleed, but I don't like to put up their pics on this internetty thing.

Dear oh dear all this trouble and strife when you know at the end of the day what the kindest and most humanitarian answer is....

Sam,
Surely to god there has got to be some kind hearted expat somewhere in Thailand that would be prepared to take your little dog on. As far as I'm aware there are a shiteload more expats there than in Bali. I'd be more inclined to work as hard as I could in rehousing the dog with someone in Thailand, making a contribution to the kind soul for adopting him/her and then saving that money for annual trips to visit it with your daughter. I see that as the least stressful for you and the dog.

I know....but the divorce would cost me a fortune.

^ How much are the lessons from markit ?
samsiam
^ you maybe have never had a dog as a child, or a child with a dog....and, since this little dog has gone blind 12 months ago, their bond is even stronger. Its not about the dog, its about the little girl moreso.
A puppy is for life, not like a wife.
As much as possible anyway, we do have another dog and have a good friend that is taking her to care for us until we want to take her back.....but she is a special dog and not so common here, has more smarts than most locals....but she is mine and my sons dog, we are more realistic and mature about her, plus she is bigger and needs lots of room and exercise, something a Villa in Bali may not offer, even with the beach close by.
Lets not get started on the 2 Monkies I have !!
The cat....well the cat is not an issue, chinese restaurant up the road and it pisses on the sofa, so no trouble forgetting it on the balcony when we leave.
Lucky the parrot died last year and the rodent a year before that.

....yeah and at the end of the day you just know what the outcome would be...blind dog shitting all over the garden, local Fido's all sniffing around when the bitch is in heat...suddenly a favour ro a friend starts to look like a lot more than a favour... and whupps the housemaid/kids accidentally left the gate open the dog wandered out and got flattened by a bus or killed by local kids throwing stones at it...
...do the correct thing by the animal and your daughter and put the poor bitch to sleep humanely ... problem solved with no tears or comebacks further down the road...because another thing... I can tell you now arriving to take up residence in Indonesia the last thing you need on your mind is more potential problems than you will have...
...and if by chance you DO somehow attract the attention of the authorities just pack up and move on because they will NEVER leave you alone...
Sorry ... sometimes being the Devil's Advocate is a Devil of a vocation...

Does imported Fido sate sell for more?
Adam
Joe,
We all know how much of a pessimist you are but there are some genuinely beautiful kind hearted people in this world, and for the record I do not consider myself to be one of those people, though I wish I was. My sister is, and has adopted 2 guinea pigs, a duck and a rabbit in the last eighteen months. .My point is there are some people in this world who would not find this situation a burden. You just gotta put the time in to find them.

Well....last night was a downer in the house.
One of our monkies died, we have had her for 8 years, only the boy left now and he is lonely....he used to whack off several times a day when he had her for company....god help him now.
I could not sleep, sat up till midnight after she died...thinking, closest relative to mankind....and apparently these little ones are considered one of the closest I read somewhere, along with the chimps and orangs I think....
Quite sad, kids sad, little girl crying this morning when she found out. We will be burying her at our farm today, under a new Jacaranda tree we are about to plant.

You might want to consider staying in Thailand...?

Why dat ?

The animal is sick, it is impaired, it's quality of life must be pathetic and when it no longer hears the voice of the kind little girl who cares for it...it will pine away and it's life will be even worse... the answer is obvious... a T bone steak with a Micky Finn and then a long sleep.
