Natasha...my wife went again this morning...she plans 3 x times a week first thing in the morning and never on weekends. She has experience as a member of Celebrity in Jakarta for a few years and, according to her, this one in Bali it is excellent...the instructors are nearly all from other Celebrity gyms throughout RI and all very professionally trained.
The equipment and machines are new and of high quality....but to my eyes.....looks more like inventions for torture or masochism...:devilish:
Apparently there are over 1000 people joined already and my concern is it may be too busy, at certain times, in the future

1000 people registered at the gym is not many when you think about it. Sure it will be a bit packed at the start, but after 3months, 6months or more later, how many of those members would still be going? I'd be surprised if a 1/3 still were.

199,00 per month to join and 396,000 per month. We now have over 1000 members. That is not a bad cash injection for a business just starting up.
Maybe we should start one in Sanur.
Smoke would have to be the door man. It has already been established that Davita and I would not know how to open the door to a bloody gym.
Brad can be the accountant. Obviously Smoke can not count. (which is interesting when you take into account how he makes a living)
Do you think "Sanur Celebrity Beer Gym" would be a good name?

@23
Great idea...no idea!
But you forgot our esteemed markit....now what could be his role...I got it...running the coffee snack bar...delicious ham and cheese sannis...cheese and pickle washed with sangria....anything cholestoral to ensure more visits.
edit...had to rush and misspelled...my massage girl Ree arrived to give me the once over....no need for gym!!!....but where are my sannis?

on my defense I was doing alot of converting of rupiah and bahts along with Malay ringlets( i think they called) as my next Holiday is to Bangkok/Phuket in early Feb. yes I know there some protests going on . And then in mid April to Penang to purchase my summer house ( ok a rental place) and to get a new SosBud !

I didn't see any facility for child care but there is an open lounge area so, if you have a maid, she could sit there and the kid could watch mum sweat. Also, the wall to the mall is glass, and the upstairs mall has lots of open space for a toddler, under maids care, to scramble about and still see mom sweat...:icon_biggrin:

I don't have a pembantu, so I have to wait until my daughter is a bit older so my husband can either look after her or take her to work with him while I go to the gym. I have to say, looking after her is a good 24 hour workout in itself, so it's all good! If you ever see a suggestion box there, put a note in for childcare!!!

Thanks Davita for the input. I've been a member of 3V for a few years, really happy over there, but my membership is expiring soon and I was wondering what Celebrity Fitness is like... For now I'm homebound with my newborn (:adoration:), but in a few months I'd like to hopefully hit the gym again!! I wonder if any of these places offer child care while you work out (in North America most gyms now a days do, but not sure if they offer that service here in Bali...). I miss the gym!!!
Lea
I have just joined the gym at 'Sanur Paradise Plaza", great gym..

Congrats Lea but don't you think some more info would benefit forum members....like price, facility, equipment, location, does it have child-care etc.

The creche is a good business move in N. America in gyms and even work places but I cannot see it here in Indonesia. Most mums here have maids that caretake children in all events...I frankly hate going to a mall on weekends because of seeing maids stuffing rice into already overweight kids mouths.
Chasing your little one will certainly keep you fit till she is bigger....then you will have other problems.....so the gym may offer namaste!

@ Gozer. When I lived in Denpasar I went to Marramba Fittness (Jln Tukad Badung, Gang 25, Renon). The place was very well fitted out, and it did have a (very welcome) saunas to ease pains. The Instructors & staff were very helpful and helped in preparing the best exercises for me. The group of guys I met there were friendly and we did laugh a lot. Finding the place was not that easy, as the Fitness building (it is huge with a very big car park) was right at the end of Jln Tukad Badung, surrounded by building sites and cows. (Typical Bali!). It was vastly better than Gold Gym, in my opinion, and the extra cost, compared with Gold Gym, was well worth it. And no, I do not have shares or business connections with Marramba Fittness. Currently I go to 3V, as it closer to where I live. Hope that helps.
