Hammerhead Gym in Seminyak is pretty good - kind of like Golds Gym. There's also a small chain called 3V fitness - one on Sunset Road near Seminyak - good weights and classes, one in Kerobokan - more of a spa with a pool, etc, and one in Canggu - more for kids and no weights, etc. That's my experience. I also have gone to one in Ubud - Ubud Fitness - not bad, and have yet to visit Adam Gym above Bintang market in Ubud...

I go to few " local " gyms .one of them is down the street from the ManShed in Lovely Sanur . the others are in Renon or Denpasar.

Are the rennon ones any good? that is close enough to me I would check them out. I have a couple close to my house but they look like the kind of places I would get stabbed in.

On Wed the price goes to Rp600,000 a month.

Okay what is the difference between a gym and a "celebrity gym"?
Tomorrow I may raise the prices of the beer I sell and call it "celebrity beer" (should be a winner)

I imagine.....a Celebrity Gym has beautiful curvy girls in tight leotards or short shorts bending and stretching and smiling...probably lifting small weights above their heads and showing the curvature of the upper body...also, bending forward to reach their toes and exposing their lower posterior...then doing jumping jacks where everything gets a little jiggly.
I imagine.....a gym is full of sweaty grunts with hairy armpits and a smell like an all-in wrestlers jock-strap. When they raise their legs a couple of nuggets gets exposed and a bend forward is usually accompanied with a noise that sounds like thunder!

Well Smoke...I didn't know you were so keen on Gym. But going to New York City for a workout, because it is cheaper than Bali, does seem extreme.:ambivalence:
In Jakarta there is a Celebrity Gym in our apartment building that my wife used a lot as it was only an elevator trip to get there...last time she checked it cost Rp600,000 per month.
@Ron #11...to get me to go to either gym you'd need to provide lots of that special beer you sell!!!

My wife tried the gyms within our location and said they were mostly dirty. We saw the new Celebrity in Lippo Mall yesterday and joined, because of the promotion...I don't think we would have committed at the standard rate as we have a small gym in our house.
As you say...each to his own...we would rather go to a Mulia Hotel free-flow brunch...:drunk: than a Jimbaran beach fish BBQ.

Mulia is in Nusa Dua and the brunch every Sunday.
btw Smoke....I said free-flow....not free flow...there is a difference. The brunch, last time I went, was Rp499,000++ per head which 'includes' free-flow booze. It aint free...:greedy_dollars: but you can drink all you can...and we usually do!

please once you get there ask them for "local" price for me as that more expensive then most gyms in NYC

Davita just seems very expensive .could be cause of the expense of the equipment ,I doubt it cause of the rents. That 600,000 rp a month is about $72. USD a month . The gold's and bally gyms are all about $35. even where the rents per square foot would astonish you .
I just go to gym 3 times a week to use a treadmill ( it alot easier on my bad knees) to jog for about 40 minutes . The 2 gyms my friends go to prices are 75,000 and 100,000 rp a month .. when they go to the college gym it free as they past students and I gratis as I with them .
Personally I feel that price is way High , but each his own . I would rather take a group of my local friends to a Jimbaran Beach fish BBQ place then pay that much money for a gym membership per month when similar places are one six the price .

It is Rp199,000 to join and Rp396,000 per month and upfront you pay first and last month. 3 Instructor lessons are thrown in free.
This promo ends today 14 Jan. as the official opening is tomorrow.
