Reading Gail's process I would strongly advise you to get a tent! I thought I was losing the will to live half way through just reading about it Gail, can't imagine actually having to jump through all those hoops to build it in NZ. You must love it.

Hi Gail E,Thank you so much for sharing your experience, certainly very helpful. I'll continue with more research, looking into alternatives, before making a decision. Thanks again & best regardsDave

Yeah Hi Mark - you'd need one of those sexy turkish / arabian tents to compete with a bali cottage. Lucky we have mountains of cheese to keep up the stamina. See you're off to Burma soon - you could always make it a bigger adventure and travel from North Thailand. Anyway have a fantastic tripDave - another suggestion would be to build using local products in balinese style and then add in special items from Bali. I think there are lots of Bali styled houses up Cairns / Pt Douglas way. Good luck

Always planning on doing lots but getting sweet FA done afraid. Inertia, entropy and plain laziness are to blame. But first is the plan then comes the act....hopefully.

there is this one company selling those in Ubud. They displayed one and it exactly look the same as the hotel I used to stay in maldives. Very very very beautiful and yes they imported those knock out villas from Bali. It was quite expensive, the owner of the company is a chinese dude from Jakarta, but he rarely be there. Sorry mate, didn't keep his contact, but there was quite numbers of those wooden houses maker in that area.
