I just read Ubudians post on Thorn Tree Forum about Balipod and I must say it was a very harsh one. I can't link the post but it's easy to find.

As far as I can tell there was no purpose to the post except to slam BaliPod. Perhaps there is an agenda in there somewhere.

Enough said!

Thanks for the pointer, so I browsed a bit to catch up with what Roy is doing these days. He has been on The Lonely Planet Thorn Tree Forum for 50 days and has over 300 posts - wow, that's busy. And reading his posts brings back memories. If you are interested take a look at the threadBalinese Police corruption targets American Tourists - Lonely Planet travel forumThe subject "Balinese Police corruption targets American Tourists" grabs your attention. It was posted on Dec 16 by tlex1 who apparently may be Vietnamese with an American husband. If you hang in there and get to the 3rd page, you will find post #39 on Dec 17 by Ubudian (Roy). He is in true form and identifies tlex1 as Mark Austin and gives him a blast. Follow on further and there are more posts by tlex1 and ubudian - then a new poster "lawnsausage" joins (presumably Mark again).A good fun read!

.....Postings by Ubudian can be found on "HOME IN BALI" forum too (HOME IN BALI Forum)

He is also on Baliblog Forum as Ubudian....a man with a message, so it seems:icon_rolleyes:

Roy hasn't given up, it seems. He has always been a chronic poster...a walking definition of "prolific". I find it interesting that he still takes the time to read posts here, if only to come up with evidence to support his notion that few mere mortals on this forum know anything about Bali. (Roy seriously believes that he is some kind of repository and final word on all things relating to Bali, especially from an expat's perspective. Disagree with him and be prepared for the flack.)Roy often has great insights and "experience"...It's a pity that he can't control his "Ugly American" side when he starts shoorting from the hip with both guns blazing (or is it his infamous drinking?).This is what he thinks of this forum:These days, this forum is a quagmire of oft written horrific information that if taken seriously will only lead to endless problems for those who follow the advice most often found there. More to point the forum is an endless source of amusement for long term expats who know better, and who also take no pleasure in the downfall of so many newly arrived and would be expatriates.
Does he have an agenda? You bet! It's called "revenge". Useless and pointless for most grown-ups. Still, as he used to say (with respect to Bali expats): "Many are called but few are chosen".It can't be easy to be a "chosen one", I guess.Happy New Year, Roy (when you read this)...:icon_rolleyes:

I realised the other day that I've actually spent about a quarter of my whole life living in Bali. Still not "Balinese" (but I don't want to be, even if it were possible). Not "chosen" and never will be (that's good, IMHO...at least for me). Anyway, I wish you a great new year, too.And for those who think Roy-boy can't see messages in this part of the forum, think again. No need to be a rocket scientist. Create a new account, post a bunch of trivia (or whatever), get up to the "quota" and Bob's your Uncle. Failing that, have a "spy" or two here and "leak" stuff to Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree. Anybody here one of Roy's "spies"?After all, this is not the Bangli Psychiatric Hospital's Official Website.
Does it have one? Any ads? If so, what are they selling?Post with both eyes open...:icon_surprised:

His most recent 'pet peeve' as he describes it is my own blog, to which he has taken a toxic dislike. As usual, he hijacked the comment thread on a recent post of mine and provided me with some amusement for a few days. But like most of the rest of us, I became bored with his inane rantings and finally blocked him ...

Loved your article on Retirement Tourists. Many other too, of course, but that is very topical at the moment. Hang on.But then again how could something not be topical at the moment?I really should get out more...

Roy never met a blog from which he could not be banned from.:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

Borborigmus, the link to your blog shown in your signature doesn't connect any longer. All I get is "page not found".

Thanks - I've renewed the sig with a shortened url. Let's see if this works ...No, in fact, all sigs and embedded links, including yours, throw up a 'Page Not Found' error.Problem in the Balipod back end?
Andrew
