I am 7 years off retirement and I can understand what you are saying. I could not find a partner in Australia after my first try that cost a lot more than 50% it cost me 100%. Another story. Anyway I was going along quite happily not intending to get married again or even a wanting a relationship. Started going back to Bali after a 10 year break. Twice a year sometimes and then I meet someone. 23 years difference. I fought and fought as I did not want a relationship. In the end it was inevitable. We have known each other for 5 years and married for 3 years in March. So my advice is go with the flow. Retire over there see what happens. As some say on here there are good ones and bad ones same in any place really. My ex brother in law meet a Javanese lady on the internet. There is a website for single Indonesian women looking for partners. He owns a surfing resort in Indo so picked one, meet her and then married her. He was a prick to his first wife so I thought it would not last long. It didn't over in a year. She was lovely and all she wanted was a good husband and companion and whe would have stayed with him forever. His loss.

If you are looking for an 'unspoilt' Balinese girl, then maybe checking out the north of Bali will give better results. [less influence from the tourists and the idea that all we are good for is money]. All though money is attractive in all cultures.
