Hello to all,Is it ok if I open a tread on finding a relationship in Bali, I mean I do not want be non PC here. The retiring baby boomers are really starting to come on stream and a lot of then being either single, divorced or married are looking at retiring in Bali or are already living there. I my self am divorced and have only hung around in Australia while my children were still kids. Well they are all over 21 now so I do not have to feel guilty about leaving and retiring to a tropical island. I have been on dating sites, lol no luck there. A lot of the women (and men I suppose) on these sites seem to be BS artists, I suppose that many men and women of my generation have had not much luck with finding a partner in Australia so I am now looking overseas. So my question is this : how hard is to find a girlfriend in Bali? Is there a negative impact from the locals if one is dating a Balinese woman? It would upset me greatly if people thought the lady I was dating was; well you know what I mean. At any rate at my age I am far more interested in the company than, you know what. I would appreciate it very much if I could correspond with expats living in Bali who can fill me in, I know that when I come to live in Bali that I will be on a huge learning curve. It would be great if I could meet a group of expats and be involved in the community . Than you for the forum.:icon_e_confused:

Pretty easy to find a girlfriend in Bali. Harder to actually get a Balinese girl, most expats end up with girls from other islands, but there are definitely Balinese girls out there that will date foreigners. Most locals will assume at first glance that the girl is a working girl when they see you. If they meet you, they can usually tell if she is or not, so no real problems there, just let the girl's actions speak for themselves.

Maybe you should find a partner in your place who likes the idea of retiring in Bali Island then plan about your place there.

The trouble is also the law in Australia in regards to a failed relationship. It can cost you 50% of ones net worth. It should be thread not tread!!http://www.maineiac.com/marriage/divorce_settlement_pic.gif[/IMG]

Gosh do they hate us that much. I wonder what would happen if the Rudd and his crew tried to do this is regards to an Indonesian man wishing to marry an Australian woman?

Yes, and most of them would want you for 'economical stability', even they are not you-know-what ;-) But hey, who is judging...? A man once said to his Asian partner: "If you take care of me until I die, I will take care of you until you die: And it seemed to me they'd built this warm relationship.I think when you'll be here, and people get to know you (and you are nice:), it won't be unlikely you'll meet her. You could also join clubs & activities to build a social life first. Let people snif around you first, so that they know what kind of man you are. Balitocali: why is it harder to date a Balinese girl? Afraid for gossips?
calitobali
From what I have seen most Balinese girls are more reluctant to date foreigners, whether it be a cultural thing or whatever. Also dating a Balinese girl in Bali means usually having to get to know her whole family pretty quickly, something that scares a lot of foreigners away as our dating process wouldn't call for that.

Calitobali (not Balitocali ;-) thanks for shining your light on this, is much appreciated.

if you take a balinese girl out of her trusted environment the story is very different.a balinese girl on java is likely to be the same as a javanese girl on Bali...now I am not saying all of the Javanese girls on Bali are kupu2 liar, nor that all balinese girls on jave are like that, OK!I had my thoughts about dating young indonesian girls and posted them here too...I do feel that I have to revise my thoughts a little...Do whatever makes you happy and with a little luck makes her happy too.. if you have to worry about money in a relationship, stay single.

I didn't know him all that well; only met him a few times at Naughty Nuri's in Ubud. The funniest thing I remember was his black dog. Jason had painted the dog's name on both sides. It read "Dog" on one side and "God" on the other side. :icon_biggrin:

Wow lots of mixed opinions, well i myself have dated a many indo girls, some awsome and some horrble people which goes with any race.... but you just have to have half a brain when looking for someone to spend your life with to realize which are the keepers and which you need to run in the other directionim only young so you all may have a lot more life experience butif your looking for a true companionship without the price tag or nightmare steer clear of bars, massage parlors, clubs and basically kuta all together hhaha in my opinionmaybe try hanging out with friends meeting friends of friends, maybe join a gym or sports group book club or anything on you level where you can meet people with simalar interests and interact with people and maybe you will find what you are looking for
