Yea, I got it and took a look at it. I thought it would be at least a little bit about his own experiences in bali, but instead the entire blog is bashing this forum and it's members. It's like he reads this forum, and gets so frustrated about the things he sees and the fact that he can't actually respond here, so he has to let it out somewhere. Pretty pathetic when you think about, definitely not sane human behavior. Don't let him back.

You searched out his blog and I think you'll see it is months old and was written in anger. He did for all his faults provide this forum with much vibrancy and debate. Let it rest guys, he hasn't stirred anything up, why are you ??

I don't know if he wants to come back or not. Creating a blog with the purpose of talking about this forum specifically is obviously not the behavior of a person who has no interest in this forum though. Only reason his name was brought up again was because the question was asked if he should be allowed back now that the forum is under new management. I agree with you that he provided a lot of great information to the forum over the years, all of which can still be found in the archives. At the same time he spent an equal amount of time nitpicking and arguing over the semantics of people's posts. No one is stirring anything up, just giving their reasons for why they feel he should or shouldn't be allowed back. Like you said, who even knows if he wants to, but it doesn't seem to be in the interest of the majority of the forum regardless.

Well....read everyone's remarks and that raised mucho questions in my mind. Thanks Mimpi for your response; never contemplated that theory. True he could be very opinionated at times, yet he was so knowledgeable about Bali and contributed greatly at times. I guess bridges where permanently blown to dust between Roy and Bert. Oh well  Sorry you had a death in your family Mimpi; I know all to well that feeling since my Father passed away on May 15, 2009 and my Mother August l8, 2007; especially since we were so close. Where are you from, if I'm not being to personal. What is the name of the blog of Roy's?
Markit
Personally I was sure he would buy the forum. Invite him back?I gotta say up front I didn't like him personally but aside from that he did have a wealth of information about the island. That was also sometimes a problem - in that no one else ever had a chance to contribute before Roy got his word in and he never, ever let go, ever!Lift a life-time ban? New broom sweeps clean - it's up to the boss here, he paid his money and takes his chance. I was banned (at least once and maybe twice, not sure anymore) and allowed back in so who am I to raise the reproving finger? If you've read his little poison blog it's really quite sad for a grown man to pout so loudly but in a funny way I can understand him because, superficially (I don't know what went on behind the scenes, of course) his ban was for something so inoffensive that it made no sense at the time and with the amount of effort (and time! he was online 23 hours every day!!!) he put in I'm sure there was at least a feeling of ownership on his part towards this blog. I'm sure it came as quite a shock to be cut off, in mid flow, as it were  I guess what I'm saying, since nobody asked , is I don't really care - if it gets too offensive or aggressive we can all vote with our ENTER key and go somewhere else that isn't.

Perhaps we should just let sleeping dogs lie and move on. Cans and worms come to mind. I'm thinking Spicey's curiousity may have waned already on this issue  Maybe I'll start a new thread "what happend to Anton"? He hasn't posted for a few months. Wasn't he on his way to Bali? Did he get lost on the way?

no one else ever had a chance to contribute before Roy got his word in and he never, ever let go, ever!
I totally agree with you on this. It is a fairly common problem on forums, on any topic. Sometimes when you have someone with all of the answers, other people with less knowledge/experience of the topic are reluctant to reply. I have run a couple of forums and been moderator of another forum and trying to balance different viewpoints and personalities is not easy. You are never going to please everyone. Perhaps we should just let sleeping dogs lie and move on. Cans and worms come to mind. I'm thinking Spicey's curiousity may have waned already on this issue
Sounds like a good idea. I can't believe I was the one that even brought it up!

Roy seemed to be a happier person in real life when he wasnt posting. He spent many many hrs on the net thinking about what he was going to write next and his post reflect that. I dont miss the forum much, but would love to hang out with Roy and his family on a nice day over a good meal and a cold bintang....
Jimbo
for someone with only 3 mails on this forum you seem to know or claim to know an awful lot.Who are you really?
goldminer
Didnt take him long to start in his old ways....

Care to address why Roy was permanently banned when trying to convey the position of US Consular Agent in Bali was open, and yet YOU continue to post your link to your mimpimanus homestay? Good luck! :D
Maybe you should ask the person who banned him, not me.As far can tell that was just the straw that broke the camels back. But no problem because it looks like he is back
froggy
Well, if he's back then I may start reading the forums again, not that I was avoiding the forum, it just didn't interest me much without him here.go figure.lol

Froggy, remembering some of the poisonous personal attacks he made on you (and pretty much everyone else too) I gotta figure you as a paid up member of the "Beat me again" club. If you have need of pain just go slam that little thing in the door and get it over with.

The posts have been deleted.
Really?Where? And why?Are you trying to turn history into myth and myth into reality?War is God's way of teaching Americans geography
Roy was a prolific poster here, bordering on the obsessive. When he was "good", he was "good". And when he was "bad", he became "super bad".I know of some of things that were happening in the background when the former Admin was here. Roy's hate blog regarding this forum was about as ugly, vicious, uncalled for, evil, inappropriate, contentious, unhelpful, as you could get.One coin - two sides.Gone somewhere else and best forgotten, IMHO.Roy lovers can track down his latest stuff without too much difficulty.Just don't get on the wrong side of him, (like disagree with something he says), and you'll be OK.

Well he is probably with his cousins/aunt/friend who is related to the King/prince of everywhere. The best comedy writing on the Island.
