I see so many old posts by him and now he seems to have vanished. :?:

Something about him posting a job offer and it getting deleted and him continuing to repost it. I think it was the straw that broke the camel's back though. I met the guy one time at Naughty Nuri's. He is just as strongly opinionated in real life as he was here, which probably isn't that surprising.

With about 100 posts under my belt here, No I wouldn't say so, and don't know why anyone else would really think so. Personally don't have the time to argue with people online with long-winded responses. I didn't mean that Roy wasn't a good guy, he was, we only spoke briefly, but it was immediately apparent upon meeting him, that he feels just as strongly and personally believes everything he says, just as much as the things he typed.

And you're not ??
WTF???Calitobali stronly opinionated??? Probably the cruisiest dude on the forum IMHO (aside from perhaps the Sanurian who doesn't visit us much  8) ). From what I can tell from his posts, if more expats lived like him and thought like him, the place wouldn't be half as 'ugly' as the way it seems to be heading. And the whippa-snappa is just 21 years old and is by far the most humble Seppo I've encountered - full credit to the guy.Comparing him to Roy - geez thats a bit harsh  . Fair go mate....

Adam, I wasn't comparing Cali to anyone, merely stating that he too has an opinion and voices it, regardless of whether he is just a young whipper snapper, fairly new to life in any part of the world. BTW I am not a 'mate'
calitobali
Haha yea, I was pretty surprised too that anyone considered me "strongly opinionated". I tend to just roll with the punches.

Now that their is a new owner of this forum, perhaps Roy would contemplate joining the forum again. i do not know how the rest of you all feel about his rejoining the conversation but I WOULD enjoy his commentary when he feels to imput his opinion. Adds to the conversation in my humble opinion.
Adam
Hmmm..... Be careful watch you wish for sometimes I think.....would require a real cost/benefit analysis first........

Adam, I never had a problem with Roy. I found him always informative, interesting, and polite. I truly could never understand all the

Maybe you were not aware of everything going on ????

just my two cents...I have never met him (roy), but have read alot of his posts on this forum...sometimes provocatife and nasty, sometimes very beautiful written. Overall he has alot of knowledge about balinese things, be it art/adat/history to name a few.I have no clue what went on between members, and the previous owner...I do know he (roy) put an 'add' for a job at the US-consulate/embassy and that was not allowed, thus deleted, roy posted again, and I guess (don't know) there have been some strong words going back and forth, which ended with roy getting lifetime banned on this forum.. Since then he (roy) started a blog about this forum, and in my opinion it's nothing more then a hateblog...very sad for this forum, but also for him...so much energy wich could be used in a positive way.As for him (roy) getting back on this forum, I think that after the things he wrote on that blog of his, makes it impossible to return :?:

Everyone makes mistakes. BRING BACK ROY!

Yeh, and bring back the plague too.
calitobali
Can anyone post a link to his blog? I have never seen it before.Anyways, I wouldn't vote to bring him back, even though he knows a hell of a lot about Bali, you have to pick through the things he says to discover which is true and which are his own delusions.

calitobali, sent you a PM with the link. I would prefer not to post it here.

People seem to talk about it but avoid posting links to it.Another mystery from back then is balilife - a forum member I enjoyed reading. His last post was last Dec 16 in this threadhttps://balipod.com/forum/threads/clearing-the-air-on-foreign-%E2%80%9Cownership%E2%80%9D-of-bali-property.3399/The post he was apologising for has been edited and there's nothing left - but from memory Jack Daniels in his Bali Update had covered (see http://www.balidiscovery.com/messages/message.asp?Id=4913) an opinion from Rainy Hendriany (see http://www.rainyhendriany.com) that raised doubts about the way "name-givers" are used for expats to "own" property. Balilife seemed to suggest that she maybe was just drumming up business. Roy and Jack Daniels are apparently close friends. Then this dramatic apology and departure.
