! Prices compared to others flying in and out of indonesia ?
2 Using there website to book flights i.e is it safe to put your credit card details into there system.
3 What i really want to do is book all oneway tickets and maybe book my last big ticket to europe once settled in indonesia do you think i will have a problem at the border or even be denied permission to board a flight to indonesia without an onward ticket ?

I use airasia all of the time and have never had a problem with their booking system or even their flights.
I believe airlines get a fine or something if a passenger is refused entry into the country, which is why they often ask if you have a return ticket. You can always say you haven't made up your mind yet where you want to travel to.
Dress nicely and be polite and usually you won't have a problem with immigration.
If you want to play it safe with a return ticket you could just book the cheapest one out of the country. Medan to Penang for example is only about $30.
If you are flexible with the days, you can find flights that are sometimes a bit cheaper depending on the day.

Anton,A few months ago I booked an Air Asia ticket online to fly from Dempasar to Jakarta so I could catch an international flight with another airline to Manila with a further domestc connecting flight after that in the early hours of the next morning. I always cut things fine when travelling LOL. The online booking process was fine and the e-ticket was issued almost instantly. However on the afternoon of the flight (it was an evening fight) I was received a text from Air Asia on my mobile advising the flight was to be delayed an hour. Soon after I received a 2nd and then later 3rd text advising of further delays. I was in danger of missing my connecting flights later that night. I rushed the rest of my packing, grabbed a taxi and went straight to the airport. Air Asia staff at the airport were very helpful and understood that my delayed scheduled flight and others they could offer would get me to Jakarta too late to catch my Manila flight. They arranged a alternative flight for me with one of the other domestic airlines who had an office next to them (there's 4 or 5 airline counters there from memory). All ended well and I made my connecting flight with a few minutes to spare. Can't remember who I ended up flying with. About a month later I received a refund from Air Asia for the flight I didn't take. So although I didn't fly with them they were good to deal with other than their flight was continously delayed (nothing new for airlines). If you check air safety in Indonesia as I did when looking for flights you'll find over half the airlines have bad safety history (a number had recent crashes or were banned from flying when I looked). Air Asia seemed to me to be the best of the asian discount airlines that's why I chose to fly with them. 2 weeks ago we flew from Dempasar to Jakarta on another Indonesian airline (can't remember who but can find out). My gf's family said don't fly with them but my gf wanted to save us money so we did. This airline likes landing on 1 wheel  ps As I've been writing this I've been watching a current affairs program on the recent court decision for the Garuda pilot charged over the crash that killed 5 Aussies among others.
I'll tell you about my Jetstar flight another time with the big arse co passenger who hit me in the head with her arse 6x in a 5 hour flight everytime she got out of her aisle seat (I was in the opposite aisle seat) :x You'd think you'd say sorry or excuse me or something????

Firstly thankyou for those 3 very helpful replies  i now feel more confident to book different flights in different sectors as i never really know how my plans are going to turn out, eventually i will have to fly to london and i will be in indonesia probably jkt but maybe bali so do you think it would be a good idea to wait to buy my air ticket to london until i am say in jkt and then go shop around for a fare ?

Yes, the prices are pretty good. Sometimes they advertise low rates in the paper, and when you go on line it can take some time to find the dates where these special discounts are available. I helped a friend book Air Asia flights via KL to Bangkok, and then they were sending messages about changed flight times. I think this is common enough with cheap airlines - if flights are not full enough they may be cancelled and you get moved to a different flight.

Had to give advice on this one.

Hi Anton, there are a lot of cheap fares floating around aussie at the moment, ie Singapore Airlines to London from Perth around au$ 1300. Thats about 60% off, i am sure if you go on line, there are many more available, regardless of where you are travelling from or to.

Hahahahahahaha aquaman you've not been in the forum long but you sure know how to read my mind
I think what i will probably do is buy the main ticket oneway from LK to LHR and be more flexible with the rest
Thanks again .

Hi goldminer, yes that flight is cheap although i would have to first fly to perth from melbourne and sure i like to fly singa to LHR though ive been using the air asia oneway booking system to get prices and ive found that if i say book mel to KL then book again KL to jkt then back then book again KL to LHR then i came up with a fare of under $1000 :D now or course the big ticket flight was discounted the thing is ive always booked those convenient fares but this time i would like to book as i got so to speak and i find air asia fares dirt cheap compares to the bigger carriers so im thinking why not just book as you go that way i wont be left holding a ticket that i have to use so to speak ,im not in a big hurry to get to the uk anyway and asia is such an interesting place anything can happen
Thanks again to all the posters :D

Up to you but there are some cheap airfares around at the moment. I tend to try and bookall my flights before I leave home then I have a schedule to work from. But if you want to be more flexible incase things change while you are away eg. some balinese princess kidnaps you  you can always book flights from wherever you happen to be. Only problem with that is it can be a pain running around to travel agents/airlines, having mobile phone and internet problems if bookling online etc. I wouldn't want to be wandering aimously (is that how you spell it?) in Jakarta coz it kind of big and chaotic and takes hours to get anywhere.

Ron ive been surfing the air asia website again today as i feel i will soon need to start booking and just a question on tax as the fares are low and on the first part of the booking you choose flights and on the right side of the screen shows total cost although the cost seems too low so does this total amount include the tax or is this added when you check in ?
Thanks in advance ron :)

When you terminate your booking on Air Asia, your credit card is charged for the amount indicated (they ask you to confirm first) on the website, at the last step of the booking procedure (just before billing in fact). At the airport, you will have to add only the payment for the Airport Tax and the Fiskal Luar Negeri (if eligible)

Ron, i use Jetstar a lot. Via jakarta and the prices are great, but as you say you can add on. A recent special, Perth - JKT one way was $119 including taxes etc, etc no hidden charges

Hi Anton, Yes, at the second step where you see a slightly increased price this is a real total. However, as you go through the final steps you can add on meals (Rp15,000 each) and travel insurance (also Rp15,000). Also you can elect to choose your seats (to ensure that you are sitting together) and pay yet another Rp15,000 each - so the final total could have an extra 45,000 or so on each leg for each person.
I understand why you wonder if the total is for "real" - both Lion Air and JetStar show base prices at the beginning which seem to sometimes almost double when "taxes and fees" are added - but Air Asia is different.
