It is somewhat of a surreal feeling to acknowledge what has just transpired.I would say that this day will be writtin as one of the greatest days in the history of the US.Roy, please pm me the account details of foundation you wish your wager to go to. I'm glad we had this bet, and thrilled that I lost it.The world will be a better place for at least the next four years, of that I am certain - and the US will forever be a greater nation than it was yesterday.Ct

The world can breath a sigh of relief and look forward to a change for the better. This result restores my faith in the people of America and I look foward to the change promised.

In Ubud, we are all somewhat speechless, numb, and close to shock. For the majority of Americans, our voice has finally been heard, and it is resounding across the whole world. Typical of the entire Obama campaign, since, day one, two years ago, is his personal message that was sent to his supporters even before he made his public acceptance speech:Roy -- I'm about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first. We just made history. And I don't want you to forget how we did it. You made history every single day during this campaign -- every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it's time for change. I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign. We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I'll be in touch soon about what comes next. But I want to be very clear about one thing... All of this happened because of you. Thank you, Barack
No doubt some 50 million or more other Americans got this same e-mail. And that's fine with me. As I see it, this is the first and only time a campaign contribution, along with a little campaigning effort by me has ever been acknowledged. That he ends his campaign with the same professionalism and class, is only a subtle indication of what is to come in the months, and years, ahead.

Or, you can go to her website, and make your donation there:http://www.helenflavelfoundation.org/I appreciate your good spirit in loosing this bet...one which I know you fully wished to lose. Well done, I say!

What a fantastic result not just for Amercia but for the world. Barrack Obama would have been about 4 years old when Martin Luther King Jr. said"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."How wonderful that this has today transpired. This election goes a long, long way to restoring hope and a renewed optimism to both the USA and the world at large.
Roy
Truth be told, 99% of Americans who were asked about the racial issues surrounding this election, that the US media seemed compelled to inject, were not happy with the question asked of them. I guess the networks were just doing their jobs, but I despise racism, and I even more despise that the "Bradley Effect" which goes back 26 years in American politics, would ever warrant a mention in today's election and the months leading up to it. That racism still exits in the US is a no brainer. On one level or another, it exists everywhere in the world. But, Barack Obama will forever acknowledge his victory today as based on the people of the US...regardless of their skin color, creed, wealth or occupation. Racism was not dealt a death blow today, but it sure did get the shit kicked out it.

Fantastic result, sanity spoke, and the world sighed a mighty gasp of relief..... and a big thanks to Jack Daniels for the wee party at the Sector Bar.

At first I was a republican supporter, but I am happy Obama won, he's young, and I hope he lives up to the hype, its nice we have someone in office that is more articulate than me with my 9th grade english!! haha.... Now if we can keep the rednecks&extremist from trying to rid him of this world,, that would really, really suck...

Hold your horses, oh ye fawning liberals.http://www.ronpaul.com/2008-11-04/ron-p ... e-horizon/For those of you who slept through this thing in an NLP daze, don't forget, president-elect Barry has a long way to go. Talk is cheap and eloquent verbal articulation won't extricate the US from the train wreck it's currently in.Change, change, change, a meaningless, idiotic, mantra chanted by the brainwashed. What exactly is this man going to change? Can any of you cite the particulars of a detailed plan of action? How does he propose to do it? By putting the coal industry out of business? Greatest day in US history indeed! Since he has a virtual democratic dictatorship going for himself, it should be quite easy to bring the troops home, ban water-boarding and repeal the USA Patriot Act.I won't be impressed until I see some REAL CHANGE not just talk thereof. Now we'll see if your messiah; walks on water, transforms water into wine and raises the dead. More likely; He'll end up with wet feet, turn water into vinegar and look like the "living dead" at the end of four years and still nothing of a postive nature will be accomplished. The Don

Don,Don,Regardless of how decisive his victory has been, Mr Obama is not a miracle-worker. In fact, with the weight of expectation he is carrying, he can hardly hope not to disappoint. He faces the toughest economic conditions any new president has seen, arguably since the Depression. As Edward Hadas puts it on BreakingViews.com, "the whole financial system is basically kaput." Without "trillions of dollars" of government backing, "the whole banking system would likely be out of operation." That's not such an encouraging set up. Moreover, his options on spending his way out of trouble are limited. "A big trade deficit and large international liabilities make the dollar vulnerable to a run. The country may get away with low overnight interest rates and a $1 trillion federal deficit for a while, but steering policy will be like walking next to a cliff in the fog."
Roy
"The Don" and his charming and witty wife are going to be moving to Bali soon anyway, so his perspectives will be changing in his near future...that is for certain! :P

Don,At which point in time do you plan on measuring from? As of election day, the then Sen. Obama, the now, President Elect Obama had already accomplished more for his country than George Bush (Snr & Jnr), Ron Paul and John Mccain have accomplished in their combined careers. What has he accomplished? He has inspired the world and bought hope to a wounded nation, your wounded nation. If he did nothing further in his term in the whitehouse, if he watched re-runs of the johnny carson show for his 4 years in office, he still would have accomplished more than those you admire.Oh and btw, really nice display of the classless mindsets of rednecks during mccains concession speech, they were all booing Obama and I'm glad mccain set them straight. At the end of the day, the greatest justice I see is that those, like you, who oppose him for the colour of his skin or for his liberal views, will spend the next four years with him as your president - so, 'suck shit' I guess would be the only fitting words. :lol:Ct
