And a letter for the embassy and other things. Best look at the Indonesia Embassy site in Oz where they will give you full details of the Sosial Budaya (Social) visa you will need. Getting the KTP and letter will be difficult unless you actually know someone who is willing to sponsor you.

you can come for free for 30 days if your holder of an philipinna passport...within those 30 days find a sponsor for a sosbudvisa. check the indo embassy website in the philipinnes Indonesian Embassy, Philippines

Hi. If i'm not wrong you can come on a visa on arrival VOA and stay for 30 days and find a sponsor to have a social visa for 6 Months but you can't proceed directly for a social visa if you come on a VOA you have to do a visa run to for example Singapore. Best of luck. Andy

An other option is: you can also for the fisrt step arrive with a Visa On Arrival (VOA), and i think that because your from philipines its free for you for 30 days. when you arrive there you can convert this VOA visa to social or business visa but you still need a sponsor. i can recommand you a friend who can do this for you (i do it with him after have been rip off by stupid local agency!! i strongly recommand you to not deal with any of them, they dont speak good english and have the bad habbit to make up the prices as they go along!!) he is an american who lives in bali, he can sponsor you (like he does for me) and get you the visa you want. It cost around 750 000 rupiah for the sponsor, 600 000 rupiah for month, it's call private sponsor. for the business visa i dont know i dont use it :). but you can call him if you want even to get only information (he will not charge you ;): Ronny (+62 081808320061), good luck!!! and hope that you will help me when i will go to philipines for more than 6 month :)

Hi, im actually thinking about it though as i checked online Philippines get free tourist Visa On Arrival thanks for the info thou. i have some couple of questions :) is it hard to get a job there? since i wanted to stay longer (if i can) i would like to have a job and also renting house seems like its hard to check it online ive been looking around though but most of it its a house do you know any site or link i can go to to?:) im thinking living in Ubud :) where i can learn meditation, i also like going to coffee shop where beach is close i like walking around and place to jog? bec i go running every morning :D THANKS!

You should not have to pay anything for a sponsor, this 750,000 for the sponsor is ridiculous and I wouldn't trust an American in Bali sponsoring multiple people. Not that I wouldn't trust him as a person (although charging 750k for it is a bit shady), more that I wouldn't trust the legality of it all. Gracez, do not take this person's advice, if possible get the 60 day tourist visa before you come in, you should easily be able to make a few local friends who will be willing to sponsor you within your first 60 days here.

You cannot work on a tourist or sosial visa. To get work you need a KITAS and be employed by a company. Please look through the archives where all this info is available.

Gracez a 60 day tourist visa is a lot different than the tourist visas you get when you arrive, not only do you get an extra 30 days but there is the possibility to either extend it or have it turned into a social visa when you get here. Meaning you won't have to go to Singapore to get a Social Visa. Trust me Visa runs to Singapore are a pain in the ass and can be costly if you don't know anyone there you can stay with. As far as jobs go it all depends on what your skills are, I would suggest you come here first, see if you actually like living here and then test the water. If you don't know someone who will sponsor you, use an agent. Here's a previous thread regarding visa agents. https://balipod.com/forum/threads/opinions-on-visa-agents.9233/ Most agents will provide a sponsor letter so you can apply for a "sosial budaya" visa at the nearest consulate in your home country. When the visa is issued you will have 90 days to enter the country and the sosial budaya is valid for 60 days from your date of arrival in Bali. About 2 weeks before the end of the 60 days, contact the agent again to apply for a 30 day extension. He can do this 4 x times (so the visa is valid for 180 days in total), then you must leave the country and start all over again. In some consulates they insist on seeing a valid exit ticket within the 180 day period, but it's best to check with the consulate where you wish to apply.

I don't know about Melbourne consulate, but the Sydney consulate takes 1 week. If I apply on Wednesday morning, the visa is ready the following Wednesday afternoon.
