Travel Tips for Indonesia
Rule No. 1 - never, ever ask a local where you are or where you are going, ever.
Why? they generally don’t know where they are themselves and instead of disappointing a visitor they’ll tell you some bs to be helpful. I have never heard or seen a balinese say “I don’t know”, ever.
Rule No. 2 - never, ever actually expect to get where you are intending to go, ever.
Why? it’s much healthier and less stressful for the nerves to travel not expecting to find anything but happy to see what there is to see. P.S. Never travel with a wife that gets angry easily, ever! (there are so many other that won’t).
Rule No. 3 - if it’s raining never travel north-south or south to north, ever.
Why? those are the directions the weather is coming from. If you are in the rain go east or west and you will most likely get out of it in the next valley.
Rule No. 4 - never travel with a reading light or tea pot, ever.
Why? - because the woman you’ve taken with you instead of the angry wife will have better things to do in the dark than read a stupid book and tea is not the beverage of lovers or conquerors, not since the English went back home.
