Thanks forvthe info....now to find my way around to these joints.
Made serious boo boo last night, ate at the dim sum inc place and wanted to cut back to seminyak.....did that ok, but not recognising seminyak rd when we got to it, I crossed over into double 6....worst traffic jam I have ever been in, including anything in bangkok.....an hour not moving later and the car behind managed a tight u turn...I followed half on the footpath back to seminyak rd and was away.

Tell me what the knowledgeable think of a 15 are new house north on canggu, 2 minutes to the beach would be worth to rent yearly?
Found a place, great locale, but house was not what I was looking for, but property outside is great. Not furnished, but negotiating big ticket items to be included and already reduced the rent to an amount what ssems to be ok to me....not sure if still over priced or not but in relevance.
While at it....how the hell do you lot deal with this outdoors living constantly and the kosquitoes.....dun want dengue hanging around.
Markit
Cangu is a shit hole full of Ozzie weirdos with a Bintang problem, ditto Kuta and Legian. If you wanted stress with foreigners you could have stayed in Leg Land.
Dude you need to move to Sanur. No mozzies, hot and cold running honies and an easy drive from the far east. Make sure you have an extra bedroom (en suite please) and I like my eggs...fertile.
samsiam
North of canggu I said......sanur has no surf dude....I think......and I need honies like a hole in me head.....mind you, stuck in traffick for so long in 66, I did see a few....so did the missus

I will be wandering along the beach in Sanur soon. I will tell Froggy who runs the surfing school at Baby Reef that he is wasting his time being here. He also happens to be a champion kite surfer so I will mention that he is in the wrong place.
Next I will ask Jaenke why he was silly enough to move to Bali from Italy to set up a surfing, Stand Up Paddling and kite surfing business in Sanur.
After that I will chat with Dro at the Rip Curl surfing School and ask why there are always people surfing here.
I may ring Pete and Shorty and ask why they would live in Sanur and go surfing here. They would have no idea about even though they both were on the international circuit.
Next I will get a translator so I can tell the Japanese surfing school operators that they are wasting there time. This is all with a 25 minute walk of my house. So by then I will be "puffed" and will have a beer while telling Putu that the surf taxi service that he has run for 15 years is simply a silly idea.
Why all this silly people would do this is beyond me. Why do that not simply ask someone who lives in Thailand where to live and surf in Bali.
I can not believe that samsiam comes on this forum, asks question and then opts to ignore it all. I tend to think the guy is simply a troll.
Give in Markit, the guy does not want to heed any of your advice.
samsiam
So what are you trying to say exactly?
samsiam
By the way....tell me what advice I have ignored ? I have been told many times the surf sint great in sanur, not like canggu and other spots. I also mentioned before that my kids have a great teacher in canggu echo beach area....I have not been to sanur yet...so just going on what has been told to me. I do know kite surfing is great there, cos kiteman and others said so....anyway, sorry to upset your sunday mornin grump
davita
I've been to Sanur beach many times (will be there again today) but haven't seen too many surfing off the beach from the walks I've done from one end of the beach to the other. Not like I've seen on any west coast like Uluwatu or Kuta/Legian/Echo Beach. Sure have seen a lot of kite surfing though...but the only connection I see from kite-surfing and wave-surfing is they are both started on the water and they use a board!
North Sanur is different but that is not in the Sanur town area. Last year I recall the Oakley sunglass company sponsored a championship meet...I would think that surfing there is for experts as the waves get really high.
samsiam
Thankyou davita....confirms what you and others have said before.
While most likely it does have surf, from what I have been told, it is either ok for very beginners, or the other end great for experienced, nothing inbetween which canggu and others areas along here offer.
All based on me having not been there yet me good self...but that'll change next week, going to meet someone and shall spend the day in the area having a looksie.....
kite surfing needs wind...can be as flat as a pancake and be great.

Do you need a notaris to deal with a simple 1 or 2 year rental contract?
Back home never did, but can understand here if need be with all the nominee and subleasing about.
If yes...how much should one charge for such a simple task.

Normy
I would recommend using notaris. Think it was 5% of rental . lessor and lessee pay half each
Smoke
I have a 2 year lease after overleasing with landlords approval . My landlord fixed anything I had a problem with and let me do minor alterations for my preferences. With that we did a 2 year lease under my name with allowing my overleasing meeting her approval . No notorious was needed by either side. Maybe if this was a first dealing with landlord then I would use a notorious ..
If using a notorious interview a few and get a feel which one be for your best interest (some are sided with an local even though they married to an foriegner ! be careful and choose wisely !
Markit
Cause they might be ... notorious as opposed to notaries or even notary's or maybe Not Ary's but not tarries.

Thats bloody expensive justbto witness some documents innit ?
Markit
Notary costs are stipulated by the government and laid down in a document that you can ask to see in the Notary's offices. They will be a percentage of the contractual sum or a fixed price. Since I don't have the doc can't be of any more help, sorry.
davita
When we purchased our villa under the nominee scheme over 2.5 years ago, we used a notary and, as markit said, the cost was as per the government's proviso.
I've used the same notary to complete legal documents from UK since...... and there was no cost to provide her stamp and signature.....gratis!
I suggest a lease contract can be notarised for a simple fee. If complicated items are included in the contract then obviously the costs will increase in accord with the administration/responsibility of the notary.
smoke ...if you have a titillating story to tell...we are all ears!
