ronb wroteIn Australia you are protected from the true price of expensive drugs because the government pays.
For example, some of the statins you will get in Oz are quite expensive, and if you show the labels here they may offer you the same label at a high price. But cheaper generic alternatives are more widely used here because locals are cost conscious, so after a bit of Googling you should be able to switch to a cheaper generics. Don't go to doctors for prescriptions, it labels you as "high price". Do your research to discover what will be a good generic, then use Tokopedia to get an idea of what the price should be - even if you prefer to buy locally.
I don't know how expensive medicines are in Australia, but in the USA, we get the prize for having the most expensive medical racket in the whole wide world. However, regarding statins, even In the US of A, they are relatively cheap. Without any type of insurance, a 3-month supply, (like mine, Pravastatin), cost US$40., and with my insurance, Medicare (the "socialist" program for old folks, as far as any red blooded American is concerned), it's US$8.00 for 3 months! Do you want me to send you some, you'll pay for the shipping...
