C'mon :) nah ain't that serious yet. Problem is still corruption & nepotism. Hah they have an airport in the south? We want another in the north & east & west. Investors will pay! Ain't our money anyway! But I need my guys in the north (Pastika f.e.) to have sth to lean on. Investment strategy? None. Why? We need it! Let the stupid bule pay for it. WE NEED STREETS (east-west, north-south) not NEW AIRPORTS! We need LESS CARS NOT MORE (look China, Singapore etc).
Indonesia doesn't build cars with 260 million people! Why not start building eco friendly e bikes & cars?
Please :)
Your wish has been granted. Indonesia is the second biggest manufacturer of conventional cars of the ASEAN countries making more than 1,220,000 cars per year from 13 different manufacturers (quite a bit behind Thailand which makes almost 2,000,000).
Also in Indonesia Le-Bui, Wimcycle, Polygon, Volta and United Bike, amongst others, are already making electric bicycles while Volta and Gesits are making electric motorcycles and the government has launched a plan for Indonesia to manufacture 600,000 EVs a year by 2030. Hyundai has already completed its factory in Cikarang and its first EVs should hit the market around March of 2022 (Imported in total knock down form and assembled locally at first). Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Mitsubishi have also pledged commitment to the plan.
Of course then we read about the current power generation crisis and look up at the crazy electric spaghetti hanging from the power poles everywhere and wonder how the charging systems will work
