indonesian government websites say that the rail line from bandung-jogja-solo was not damaged, so atleast there is a reliable line of communication. i have great faith in PT Kereta Api! i also heard that the runway at adisucipto should have been operational by today. lets hope that jogja can recover from this as quickly as possible. kasihan sekali jogjakarta, kota yang 'home away from home' aq.

Australia on tsunami watch following Chile quake The Associated Press , Sydney | Sat, 02/27/2010 6:04 PM | World Australia and Indonesia has been put on a tsunami watch following a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Chile. The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning Saturday night for a "potential tsunami threat" to New South Wales state, Queensland state, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. Any potential wave would not hit Australia until Sunday morning local time, it said. The Bureau of Meteorology says a tsunami has been observed off the coast of Chile that may threaten Australia. The earthquake struck early Saturday in central Chile, shaking the capital for a minute and a half.

Magnitude 6.4 - SOUTH OF JAVA, INDONESIA A magnitude 6.5 earthquake has hit parts of Java island and the tourist resort of Bali, but there are no immediate reports of damages or casualties. Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said the earthquake that struck at 1.23 a.m. on Tuesday (11.53 p.m. IST, Monday) was centred beneath the Indian Ocean, but has no potential to trigger tsunami. It was centred about 300 km southwest of Banyuangi town on the eastern end of Java, with a depth of 10 km.

A bit of a tremor here in Jimbaran. I was upstairs and there was an odd grinding noise. My wife was downstairs and felt the tremor and saw the flower bush outside the back window shaking,. No apparent structural effect.
