Ministry: Super-Priority Tourist Attractions Will be Busy for the Year-End Holidays

Tempo are reporting that Indonesia’s Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry has predicted that during this year’s Christmas and New Year holiday season, “the super-priority tourist attractions of Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang will be swarmed with tourists,” according to the Head of the Communication Bureau of the ministry, I Gusti Dewi Hendriyani.

Dewi also explained that the five super-priority attractions are accessible, have adequate amenities, and have interesting attractions, especially to welcome the holiday season. These are the reasons why these tourist attractions are immensely popular.

“Tourist attractions that are easily accessed by trains will also be popular with tourists,” Dewi added.

According to Dewi, based on the data from last year’s train reservations during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, the biggest tourist destinations are Bandung, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Solo, Pekalongan, Semarang, Surabaya, Malang, and Banyuwangi. Meanwhile, in Sumatra, the biggest tourist destinations are Lampung, Palembang, and Medan, report Tempo.

“Meanwhile, according to the results of a survey done by a travel company or agency, the biggest year-end travel destinations are Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Bogor, Surabaya, Bali, Jakarta, and Garut,” Dewi explained.

Tempo report that Dewi also explained that tourist attractions in Bandung and its surrounding regions such as Lembang, Subang, and Garut, while tourist destinations in Bogor are Puncak and Cipanas.

On the other hand, popular tourist destinations in Jakarta are Ancol Dreamland, Ragunan Zoo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Monas, and Kota Tua.
