President Jokowi has declared Election Day, February 14, 2024, as a national holiday on Tuesday (6/2/14,) through Presidential Decision No. 10 of 2024, according to reporting from Antara News.

The presidential decision has been enacted because of several considerations, including the fact that a national holiday would help Indonesians exercise their voting rights on election day.

The regulation also considered Article 167 (3) of the Election Law, which states that voting should take place on a holiday, and General Elections Commission (KPU) Regulation No. 3 of 2022 declaring February 14, 2024, as voting day, say Antara News.

On February 14, Indonesian voters will decide who will succeed President Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin for the 2024 to 2029 term. Widodo is ineligible to contest the election due to term limits.

The three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election are Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD, report Antara News.

Voters will also vote for legislative candidates for the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representatives Council (DPD), as well as regional legislatures (DPRD) at the province, city, and district levels.
