Online Visa Extension for Foreign Tourists Launched

Metro Bali is reporting that Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration has introduced a hassle-free online visa extension service for foreign nationals, a significant step towards digitalization. This service aims to streamline and speed up the visa extension process so that there is no longer a need to make a physical visit to the immigration office.

Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, highlighted the purpose of this new service, which is designed specifically for foreign visitors holding various types of visas in Indonesia. This initiative is in line with immigration’s commitment to improve services through digital strategies, reports Metro Bali.

Foreigners can now extend their stay online for various visa categories, including tourist (C1), medical treatment (C3), government affairs (C4), short courses (C9), and business visits (C11). This online extension applies to certain subcategories, such as the Tourism Stay Permit Extension (C1A1) and others mentioned.

Metro Bali is reporting that the updated system ensures a user-friendly experience, allowing foreigners to stay comfortably in Indonesia with a smooth process from visa application to residence permit extension. Notably, the extended permit will be sent directly to the applicant’s email, eliminating the need for a physical passport endorsement.

After thorough testing, the online visa extension service was officially launched on December 31, 2023, marking a significant transition into the new year. Metro Bali reports that the system has undergone rigorous testing to ensure its efficiency and reliability.

Silmy Karim emphasized commitment to ongoing digitalization efforts, expressing the immigration team’s dedication to studying, observing, and evaluating community needs, saying that this “commitment ensures the provision of the best service and optimal experience for foreign citizens.”
