According to reporting from Tempo, President Director of Indonesia Air Asia, Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, announced the launch of several new domestic and international routes for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays on Wednesday (6/12/23.)

The new routes include Bali’s Denpasar to Kupang, Bali’s Denpasar to Lampung, and Jakarta to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. The airline is set to operate Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180-passengers.

The Bali to Kupang route is scheduled to start on December 16, 2023, while the Bali to Lampung route is scheduled for January 17, 2024.

The Bali-Lampung route is the sixth domestic route launched this year and will be available four times a week.

The Jakarta to Kota Kinabalu route is the fifth international route operated by Indonesia AirAsia. Its maiden flight is scheduled for February 6, 2024, and will be available three times a week.

According to Veranita, around 700,000-foreign tourists landed in Indonesia on its flights by September 2023, with Bali and Jakarta being their most popular destinations, say Tempo.

Ahead of the New Year holidays, Indonesia AirAsia set several goals, including expanding its network in the Asia-Pacific region by launching new international routes, including Brunei Darussalam, Maldives, China, India, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.

“This is Indonesia AirAsia’s support for the recovery of Indonesia’s tourism industry and economy,” Veranita said.
